What To Expect

Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail

THE MOVIE STAR EXPERIENCE - Wineries include Hawthorne Vineyards, Mari Vineyards, Bowers Harbor, Chateau Chantal, Chateau Grand Traverse, Brys Estates, Bonobo Winery, 2 Lads and Old Mission Distillery. Semi-Private Day Tours go to 4 wineries, Sunset Tours usually go to 3 wineries and the distillery. Private Tour groups can usually customize their 4 stop itinerary. Groups of 6 or more are usually private and can suggest tour stops. WE ARE THE FLEXIBLE TOUR! Don't get TRAPPED on an old bus! Winery selection is based on availability, weather conditions, time of year. Movie Stars Wine Tours guests get picked up and dropped off in Downtown Traverse City. Book the Movie Star Experience! Get to the pickup point, and we can usually drop off at local hotels/motels after the wine tour. Bought a box of wine? No problem, after the wine tour, go out and experience downtown Traverse City, and pick up your wine the next day. Typical tours go 4-5 hours depending on the pace of the group.

Hawthorne Vineyards

Tour guests can buy flights, wine by the glass, bottles or join the wine club during the wine tour. One of the best vineyards in Traverse City, guest can sip, savor and taste some of the best reds and whites on the peninsula. Red wine drinkers can sample Merlot / Cab Franc blend and for the white drinkers try the Auxerrois or Dry Riesling. Guests can get a popcorn flight and even a charcuterie board. One of the newest up and coming wineries on Old Mission Peninsula. The Hawthorne Vineyards site is arguably the most secluded Old Mission Peninsula tasting room site. The tasting room is located on a high bluff with views of both East and West Grand Traverse Bays. Our visitors will be seeing nature– no view of traffic, no close neighbors -- just vineyard, woods and water. Guests can see both bays from the tasting room. An outdoor patio area will provide a relaxing environment with stunning bay views and a cozy outdoor fireplace.

Our experience with Movie Stars Wine Tours was beyond exceptional. We had the best day with the BEST tour guide, Cody. We will be booking with them again next year. Small group. NO BUS! Our driver/guide/host Clover was amazing and the winery selection was top notch. She was happy to adjust the itinerary, but she chose wisely. The early start kept us a step ahead of the tour groups and we always had great seating (fireplaces, igloo, etc.). 5 stars! Ask for Clover!

Excellent tour with friends! Driver Joe (Cool) was very knowledgeable on how to navigate wineries order/times and which ones would be less crowded when we arrived. A wonderfully orchestrated evening with a relaxed style throughout. And, ‘Sheriff’ Mike stopped by during the evening to make sure all was good. A very thoughtful gesture. :)

Our driver, Cody, was amazing!! Not only did he drive us very safely but he gave us a personal experience. It was very relaxing because he did not force a strict time limit, but was still able to check in with us and get us to all four wineries. In addition, it was a much more comfortable vehicle than being on a bus. He was very personable and even bussed some of our tables. My friends and I had a really amazing and fun time. I would highly recommend this wine tour over others that I’ve been on in Traverse City.

I have nothing but good things to say about Movie Star Wine Tours. Our driver Clover was great! She made the stops adaptable and gave her expertise to help us make the best stops. She took pictures for us all night which we loved. The SUV’s were super nice and it was totally worth the money.
