Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail
THE MOVIE STAR EXPERIENCE - Wineries include Hawthorne Vineyards, Mari Vineyards, Bowers Harbor, Chateau Chantal, Chateau Grand Traverse, Brys Estates, Bonobo Winery, 2 Lads and Old Mission Distillery. Semi-Private Day Tours go to 4 wineries, Sunset Tours usually go to 3 wineries and the distillery. Private Tour groups can usually customize their 4 stop itinerary. Groups of 6 or more are usually private and can suggest tour stops. WE ARE THE FLEXIBLE TOUR! Don't get TRAPPED on an old bus! Winery selection is based on availability, weather conditions, time of year. Movie Stars Wine Tours guests get picked up and dropped off in Downtown Traverse City. Book the Movie Star Experience! Get to the pickup point, and we can usually drop off at local hotels/motels after the wine tour. Bought a box of wine? No problem, after the wine tour, go out and experience downtown Traverse City, and pick up your wine the next day. Typical tours go 4-5 hours depending on the pace of the group.
Hawthorne Vineyards
Tour guests can buy flights, wine by the glass, bottles or join the wine club during the wine tour. One of the best vineyards in Traverse City, guest can sip, savor and taste some of the best reds and whites on the peninsula. Red wine drinkers can sample Merlot / Cab Franc blend and for the white drinkers try the Auxerrois or Dry Riesling. Guests can get a popcorn flight and even a charcuterie board. One of the newest up and coming wineries on Old Mission Peninsula. The Hawthorne Vineyards site is arguably the most secluded Old Mission Peninsula tasting room site. The tasting room is located on a high bluff with views of both East and West Grand Traverse Bays. Our visitors will be seeing nature– no view of traffic, no close neighbors -- just vineyard, woods and water. Guests can see both bays from the tasting room. An outdoor patio area will provide a relaxing environment with stunning bay views and a cozy outdoor fireplace.

5.00It truly was a wonderful time. We thought the price for the wine tasting was also included in the entire price of the tour so when we got to our first winery and we had to pay for the taste testing I asked our guide about it. She explained why that was the case. And we paid for the rest of the wine tastings on our tour. I'm guessing that I didn't read the description very well so that's my fault. Basically, the price only included luxury driving accommodations in a six-door limo style car (the car did not have seats that swiveled nor a place for a table to drink and eat from so it seemed more like an extended car than what I remember a limo to be like). The car was indeed luxurious. Our driver Tracy was great! She was quite familiar with the area and the different wines at the wineries. She was friendly and engaging. Wonderful guide. But the price of $534 , again understanding that we were in a luxury car with a wonderful guide, seemed a bit high. Then again, maybe we're out of touch. My recommending it to a friend would be that we indeed had a wonderful time but I think you could get the same experience for less money.
