Glass House Mountains Lookout
The Glass House Mountains, located in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, offer a breathtaking and unique experience for those seeking a blend of natural beauty and cultural history. The cluster of ancient volcanic peaks, named by Captain James Cook in 1770, captivates visitors with its dramatic landscape and panoramic views. Rich in First Nations heritage, the area holds stories and traditions of the indigenous people. Made of trachyte and rhyolite, the mountains were formed about 25-27 million years ago as molten lava cooled and hardened within the vents of ancient volcanoes. Over time, the softer material surrounding the volcanic plugs eroded, leaving the striking peaks we see today.
McCarthy's Lookout
This lookout is located in Jinibara Country in Maleny. The vistas allow you to soak up the views of the Glass House Mountains and surrounding countryside. The views are nothing short of spectacular and allow you to see the majestic Blackall Range and Moreton Bay. As you gaze upon the panoramic views, you'll be captivated by the lush rolling hills, dense forests, and the mesmerizing silhouettes of the volcanic peaks in the distance.

A wonderful experience with Trevor! The tour was well planned out, with sufficient time catered for everyone to have a gander and explore. I never felt rushed throughout the tour and got to enjoy each and every venue. The chosen venues are well thought out, with not too long a distance in between each location. None of the locations really came across as "filler" locations. As the schedules aligned, our tour had the visit to Wildlife HQ Zoo swapped for Eumundi Markets after a unanimous vote, which was great. The tour bus was clean and very spacious and can easily accommodate the maximum tour group size with ease. Trevor himself is a friendly, polished and experienced guide who is able to interact and manage the tour group well. He would genuinely communicate with each and everyone of us, even with one of the guests who could only speak Turkish! His meticulousness is highlighted by comprehensive guidebooks that he provides for his tour. They are filled with information specific to the tour as well as Australia in general. It also helps that he is a graphic designer and his guidebooks are well framed and conceptualized. For his tour, he also created audio tracks to share more information for some of the historical venues as well.

Trevor runs a great tour of Noosa and the surrounding environs. He’s able to pick you up at your hotel, and then you go to the Glass House Mountains Lookout, where you get a commanding view of the surrounding mountains and state forest. From there, the tour goes to McCarthy’s Lookout, which offers another great view of the area, and Gerrard’s Lookout, which has similarly stunning views. Then the tour stops in Flaxton for a late breakfast at a great little café. After breakfast, you go to the Wildlife HQ Zoo, where you can interact up close and personal with some animals, including emus (if you choose – not for the faint of heart). Trevor then turns you loose at the beach at Noosa Heads for a while, and you can get lunch in the area if you so choose. After lunch, you go to the neighboring beach, Tea Tree Bay. The tour then takes a turn and you go to a macadamia nut factory where you can learn about mac nuts, try various methods for opening them, and buy just about any flavor of mac nut you can think of. Following that, you go across the street to a ginger factory. Depending on your timing, you can explore the place, or if not, buy just about anything ginger-related you can imagine, before the tour concludes and you drive back to Brisbane. We really, really, really enjoyed this tour. While the day was long, it neither felt like a marathon nor a sprint. The timing of the tour felt laid back and definitely not rushed. Trevor is really smart and incredibly kind and easygoing, which is an awesome combination for a tour guide. Trevor also comes prepared: in case you inadvertently forgot something you might need on a tour, Trevor more than likely has it in his vehicle. The tour also has elements of flexibility built in. For example, our time at the beach at Noosa Heads, Trevor went and did his own thing and left us to enjoy the beach on our own, which was great, because each person could customize that time (including grabbing lunch) to their needs or desires. We also passed a roadside fruit stand somewhere, and stopped for like 3 minutes to grab some fruit for all of us. Basically, this tour is highly recommended. Alternatively, if you can’t / don’t want to do this tour, we highly recommend one of Trevor’s other tours; even though we didn’t do them, our experience with Trevor was so great that we are confident any tour he leads will be amazing.

A great day out, got to see plenty of lookouts, a couple tourist spots and really nice places off the beaten track. We got to see a bit of everything, the mountains, Noosa’s beach and even got to stop off at Wildlife HQ and see some native animals. Trevor our guide was very informative and friendly, and the bus was clean and had anything you could have needed (water, sunscreen, etc.). It was amazing how much we got to see yet we didn’t feel rushed at all, it ticks all of my tour boxes.
