D-Day Beaches (Plages du Debarquement de la Bataille de Normandie)
Your private tour guide will take your private group up for a full day of World War II history, with an emphasis on the American soldiers who fought to protect the Allies and their people. You will visit important sites such as the ones that follow.
Pointe du Hoc
Start your visit with your private guide by Pointe du Hoc, where American troops landed on D-Day. This is one of the most significant World War II sites, and unlike many other Normandy landmarks, Pointe du Hoc is largely untouched, making this an emotional and powerful place to begin the private tour. Your expert guide will take you through the history and significance of what happened here on June 6, 1944, as American troops scaled the cliffs (the highest point in the region) to take back control from German troops who had built 6 casemates to house a battery of 155 mm guns. Stand before this site, situated Utah Beach and Omaha Beach, and reflect on the heroic struggle of the American Second Ranger Battalion under the command of Lt. Col. James E. Rudder. Ultimately, many American soldiers sacrificed their lives in order to protect fellow troops from German counterattacks.

Amazing trip. Got to go into preserved German bunker, see bomb craters, walk on Omaha beach, visit a farm to buy 20 year old liqueur, and try fresh cider. Seeing the only remaining floating harbour set up by Winston Churchill was amazing. The American cemetery was touching, especially the graves for men they couldn’t name. Took my daughter (teenager) to help her understand the sacrifices made during WW2. Our guide Marius was extremely knowledgeable.

This was a wonderful experience. Our driver and guide, Sebastian, was very knowledgeable about the area and about the events leading up to and during D-day and WWII. He had unique stories to share which made the experience more personal. We enjoyed that this was a private tour so that all our questions were answered and was easy to navigate around the different sites. Even our teenager kids enjoyed the experience!
