Step into a cozy minibus and travel with a local guide who knows these valleys and fjords by heart. We keep your group small to ensure personal attention, space to relax, and we use our camera to capture the moment when the aurora appears.
Gain insight into the traditional Sami nomadic way of life, and hear local stories about the coastal communities in Arctic Norway. Learn how to capture the perfect photo, and take home memories and images to treasure.
Instead of stopping at crowded viewpoints, we usually head to a private campsite, far from city lights. But we choose the tours location based on todays weather, so we will go where the chances are the best.
At our location we will make a campfire and enjoy hot chocolate or herbal tea by the fire, and taste traditional snacks and a hearty meal made from local ingredients. All while you hear stories and enjoy the northern lights dancing above!

Tromso
Your evening starts at Kirkegata 2, where you meet your guide and travel into the quiet valleys and fjords surrounding Tromsø. Using local knowledge and updated forecasts, we head toward the areas with the best chance of clear skies, sometimes close to the Finnish border. Along the way, your guide shares stories about Sámi traditions and Arctic life. The journey is relaxed and personal, giving you time to enjoy the landscape as we leave the city lights behind. When we find the right spot, we set up a small camp far from crowds and light pollution. A bonfire is lit, and you can enjoy hot chocolate or herbal tea, traditional snacks, and a warm meal made from local ingredients. The campfire creates a warm and natural atmosphere while we watch the sky and wait for the aurora to appear. Your guide helps with photography and captures pictures for you throughout the night. When the experience comes to an end, we return to Tromsø and drop you off at your hotel.

Tor is a very knowledgeable and skilled guide and his forecasts were 100% accurate. We were a nice small group (only 4 people) and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Tor knew exactly where to go and we had an unbelievable and magical show. At the second location we had a nice campfire and hot dogs (and more northern lights). It was a fantastic evening and very special. We would have expected a bit more storytelling, but that didn’t matter, we heard about his experience as a Sami and we had an incredible time.

Tor our guide was fantastic and worked really hard to find a place for us to see The Nothern Lights. It was a cloudy night initially and we were not optimistic however we had a great trip and saw the lights for a number of hours. Very special. Our pictures taken by Tor are brilliant.

100% recommend - our guide, Andreas, made our experience magical. Great conversation, incredibly helpful with camera settings, and super photography of all the folks on the trip. Of course, finding the aurora isn't guaranteed, but Andreas knew the data and found one within 10 minutes of parking. We were a small group, ~10 people, so it was a lovely campfire bonding experience as we waited for each wave of lights. If you've never seen the Northern Lights before - take this tour. You will not regret it.

Great experience. We saw the lights, had nice time round bonfire, heard stories and then as true enthusiasts Jonny and Andreas took us looking for an even better place to see the lights. Finally Jonny kindly dropped us off well after midnight right outside our Airbnb the other side of the bridge from Tromso. Fantastic service, recommended!gr

We had an incredible Northern Lights experience with Espen from Arctic Aurora Tours. He went above and beyond for our group—building a fire for us to enjoy hot chocolate and hot dogs while we waited, which made the whole evening feel warm and special despite the cold. Even with shifting clouds, Espen was persistent and determined to find clear skies, and because of that we were rewarded with the most amazing aurora dance. His personality was wonderful, personable, and genuinely passionate about what he does. I would absolutely recommend Espen to anyone looking for an unforgettable Northern Lights tour.

Before the tour was in touch with Espen, and had many doubts, he patiently clarified all my doubts and even suggested which day to book, so that there are good chances of seeing the Northern Lights.. Tor was our guide for the evening and he was the best or even better... Totally committed to making sure he makes us see the Northern Lights.. He explained to us in detail what his plan was and though it was snowing a lot in Tromso, Tor was very confident we will see the Lights. First it felt we were going round in circles but he knew exactly what he was doing, continuously assessing the sky & weather and trying to find an opening for us to see the Auroras!! And Lo and Behold we saw them.. in all their glory.. Shining, Dancing, with Green and Red Hues.. All because of the Knowledge and Experience of Tor.. The icing on the cake was the bonfire with vegetarian sausages ( for us & normal sausages for all) & hot chocolate along with information & interesting stories about Sami culture from Tor.. While coming back Tor was again on the lookout for more Auroras sightings and We saw them two more times and every time Tor was kind enough to park the car in a parking and let us enjoy the Lights.. If you ever book a Northern Lights Tour in Tromso, make sure its with Espen & Tor and you won't regret it.. They cancel the tours if they feel there are no / less chances to see the Lights & they also give you discount for second bookings..

What an incredible experience! Our guide was so knowledgable. He took us to see the best light show, and there wasnt a single other tour group anywhere we went. He took some incredible photos of us and even pulled off safely to the side on the way home to get a better look at a particularly excellent display. Recommending this tour to my friend who will be in Tromso next week!

This was genuinely one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. Our guide didn’t just take us aurora chasing - he created a night full of magic, storytelling, and moments I’ll be talking about for years. We found a perfect (private) spot with clear skies, and the lights absolutely exploded across the sky. We were helped us with camera settings, took incredible photos, and he made sure everyone stayed warm and comfortable. If you’re coming to Tromsø, this is the tour you book. No hesitation. Pure magic.
