  • Excellent food tour in Oaxaca

This was a great tour that took us to many beloved institutions in Oaxaca, many of which we went back to during the duration of our trip. Goyo, our tour guide, was especially knowledgable and took the time to answer our many questions. For those interested in the food of Oaxaca, I would highly recommend this tour.

My husband and I had a fantastic experience with Valeria on this street food talk. Valeria grew up in Oaxaca, left and then returned home. The food vendors she took us to were multigenerational authentic local cooks. As we walked through several barrios, we tasted bite-sized portions of chile rellenos, empanada, tamale, queso, fried grasshoppers (yes! Surprisingly tasty), multiple types of chile and salsa verde, a variety of mole pastes (I didn’t know there were so many varieties), washed down with hibiscus water and mezcal. We bought some mole paste to take home and be a starter for home-cooked mole that I want to cook. If you are a foodie and adventurous, I would highly recommend this walk!

We did the morning food tour, and eventhough we had been in mexico for 2 weeks already we got to experience many new flavors. There was plenty of food to try (ooh I was soooo full!) but good walking in between to explore the city and rest your stomach. Definetely recommend this if you are a foodie, or a visitor who is eager to try lots of local foods in a local atmosphere but 'afraid' to go out on your own.

  • Don’t miss this food market tour!!!

This was such a great experience for me. As a single, non- Spanish speaking person, venturing into giant food markets like the Mercado 20 de Noviembre is intimidating. My super guide, Goyo, is a native Oaxacan who explained the food preparation processes, and history of the food we were eating. We visited two food carts outside of the market with proprietors who have spent decades at their locations and prepare the most delicious tacos +. The market is mind blowing in its size and variety. Goyo knew where to go to provide a well-rounded experience. Loved the experience!!! Highly recimmend

  • Our 3rd Street Food Tour with CTH

    Calidre,Feb 21, 2026

    - Review from Tripadvisor

This was our third street food tour with CTH. We've done two in CDMX that were awesome. And we had the same experience today in OAX! We had a wonderful private tour with Goyo. He was not only incredibly informative, but also engaging and friendly, making us feel at ease from the start. And the food! Goyo took us to a variety of different places over the course of nearly four hours, from market stalls to roadside stands, and hidden hotspots. We tried typical Oaxacan food and tasted some deep cuts until we were full. Another fabulous experience with CTH. Highly recommend this tour with Goyo! Gracias!

  • Absolutely fantastic!

We had a wonderful morning with Valeria! We did not only taste some of the most delicious food that we could definitely not find ourselves, but we also learnt a lot for the city’s culture and history. It was a fantastic and highly recommended experience! Muchas gracias Valeria!

This was the first thing we did when we arrived in Oaxaca after hearing so many good reviews and we are so glad we did. Gregorio was an amazing guide. We went from food cart to market to stand and everything was amazing. We are so much and were taken care of so well. Everything was included in the cost, including some water and coins for the bathrooms. We are so much and it was all delicious. It was a great first stop. As we only know limited Spanish this really gave us a good lay of the land and to know what to order the rest os the week.

We loved the tour. Our guide Valeria was super friendly and knowledgeable and seemed to have a great relationship with all the vendors we visited. The food was all excellent and included some stalls / dishes we would never have found ourselves, and we were very full by the end. Would thoroughly recommend!
