Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters
The Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters is a historic site used as a command center by the Japanese Navy during the Battle of Okinawa. It was built in 1944 and is located in Naha. From this underground bunker, military operations were directed, and many officers and soldiers remained there until the end of the battle. Today, it is open to the public, allowing visitors to explore areas such as the command room, operation rooms, and original tunnels. The site still bears traces of the intense fighting, making it an important place to learn about the history and tragedy of the Battle of Okinawa.
