Who better to lead a local walking tour than a history teacher born and raised in Portsmouth, who not only dedicated his university dissertation to the city as part of his history degree but also went on to write a book about Portsmouth? Samuel was engaging, enthusiastic and passionate throughout, I had no idea Portsmouth was so interesting! 100% recommend!

Great and informative tour of Old Portsmouth. Knew EVERYTHING about the area. Also had great old photos of what the area looked like years ago.

Samual was a delight to deal with whilst booking - an easy process over email. The tour itself self was Informative, engaging and fun. The size of our group was 9 people which is just right. Highly recommended.

We booked, unwittingly, for the weekend of 'Storm Bert', which whittled down the group to just four of us, plus Samuel our Guide. It was worth every minute of the blustery, wet hour and a half. A very knowledgeable and enthusiastic local historian (born and bred in Portsmouth), Samuel regaled us with fascinating, amusing and unpleasant facts, in equal measure, about the area of Old Portsmouth and the characters who lived there. We would strongly recommend this Tour.

We had a fantastic time. Samuel is both very knowledgeable and infectiously enthusiastic. He shared a wealth of historic information and entertaining stories about the area and about historic incidents. We all loved the experience.

We enjoyed Samuel's tour immensely. He was enthusiastic, enlightening and engrossing. He paints a vivid picture of the characters involved and you really get a feel for how Portsmouth was back in the day. I cannot praise more highly.

Had the most amazing, informative and hugely entertaining tour with the fabulous Samuel. From start to finish total enjoyment. Such a brilliant tour guide who clearly not only knows his history of the area but delighted in passing on his knowledge, Samuel was really open to questions and engaging with his audience throughout. If visiting Portsmouth this tour of Old Portsmouth is a must. Thoroughly recommend both the tour and guide.
