On this tour, you will see all the main highlights of Tallinn’s Old Town and learn more about daily life in the Middle Ages.
We’ll explore merchants’ dwellings, a 15th-century pharmacy that’s still in operation, the medieval marketplace, the district of knights and nobility, churches, the Town Hall, artisans’ and merchants’ guild halls — and of course, the city wall and its towers.
As we walk, you’ll find out:
who lived in the Upper and Lower Towns, who was exempt from paying entrance fees to the city, how drunkenness was dealt with in medieval times, the cost of black pepper back then, why some young men were called "Blackheads", the meaning behind the medieval proverb “Town's air sets men free”

What To Expect
Tallinn Town Hall
You will see the oldest surviving Town Hall in the Baltic région and Scandinavia and a medieval pharmacy with a small museum of medicines that were used in the Middle Ages. (Like earthworms for example...)) we will discuss punishments and celebrations that took place at the Town Hall square in those days....
Kiek in de Kok and Bastion Passages Museum
We will see and explore the preserved segment of city wall and some towers including the famous "Look in the kitchen" tower...

It was a rainy afternoon but she was very kind and offered to find places with cover to stop and talk under. She was very prepared with knowledge, pictures, an iPad w more, and riddles! 5.00Just like this review, we didn't know where to start in Tallinn. Ania gave us a great, well rounded introduction to the old town. The tour had a nice pace and was long enough to see quite a few sites. On top of these, Ania gave us multiple recommendations for additional places to visit and restaurants to eat at. Highly recommended.
