Enrich your vacation culturally and attend a one-day mosaic workshop in a natural and relaxed environment and in just 4 hours learn the basics of this ancient art form of mosaics. The workshop setting is in a traditional outside courtyard filled with orange, lemon trees and flowers safe from the sun and rain. Come and have fun, make new friends and in just 4 hours make your own Greek mosaic souvenir to take back home.
Workshop is located only 15 minutes south of the City of Sparta and very easily accessable. The workshops start at 10:00 AM and end approximately 2:00 PM.
Only 5 minutes by foot from the workshop is the main square (platia) filled with cafe's and tavernas for lunch. For nature lovers and another 5 minutes from the main square is the picturesque Anakolo Gorge, Rasina River and Hellenistic Bridge dating back 2000 years. What To Expect
• Each participant will choose a base with a Greek Roman pattern or one can use their own design. • A choice of colours are available from the variety of natural stones available. • Each participant will mix the adhesive with dry pigments to acquire the correct shade of the colour. • The mosaic making will commence using nippers, tweezers, piping bags and if time permits a hammer and Hardie used by the Romans for 2000 years. • At 12 noon we break at which point refreshments and a traditional snack will be served. • Continue working on mosaic with my guidance on techniques along the way. • Upon completion, each mosaic will be wrapped in bubble wrap to ensure safe travelling. • A writeup of all demonstrated in the workshop and the history of mosaics will be sent to each participant by email. • All tools, materials and snacks are included in the price.

5.00This was a great experience. We learned a lot about making mosaics of all kinds but the history as well. Dimitra explained everything. All the materials were provided and she led us through the process. Understanding the making of mosaics gave us much more appreciation for those we saw at the mosaic museum in Sparti. This is a great class for all ages.

5.00Dimitra is an absolute gem, as is her shop & studio. Right on the main street in Sparta and steps away from the statue of Leonidas, you'll find Dimitra's Mosaic Art workshop nestled away - a beautiful garden decorated with her own work for sale and viewing. My session was only meant to be 3 hours, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist and it was taking me longer - I ended up being there for 5 hours and Dimitra was incredibly patient and kind about it. She told me to take my time and that everyone has their own pace. We chatted away the entire time and it honestly flew by (despite how long I took!). It was really a wonderful experience and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. If you're in the Sparta area, definitely check this out! Thank you, Dimitra!

5.00A great experience off the beaten path if you’re ever travelling through Sparta - we are very proud of our mosaics we made with Dimitra who was a very lovely and generous host. We couldn’t believe 4 whole hours had gone by having been so focused on the task at hand and fully engaged in interesting and thought-provoking authentic conversation. Highly recommend!!!

5.00We had initially booked just for myself for the workshop but once the rest of my family saw Dimitra’s workspace and glorious art we were all in. We learnt so much and had such a wonderful time. Dimitra is incredibly friendly and passionate. You cannot help but feeling immediately comfortable in her space and feeling at ease with attempting something new with her support. If you are in the Peloponnese (which you should be because it is an amazing place to visit) don’t hesitate to book in for an experience you won’t forget. I am heading home with such inspiration!

5.00I was the only person booked on the course, as Dimitra was conducting it in English, so I had one to one tuition! Dimitra was a lovely person and it was great to get to know her as we proceeded. The workshop took place in the garden of her studio which was very comfortable. I really enjoyed making the mosaic. Dimitra was very helpful and informative, but encouraged me to make my own decisions regarding colours etc. The whole experience was very relaxing and enjoyable. I was so pleased that I had a finished piece to take home and am now feeling inspired to take up the craft at home. Thank you Dimitra.

5.00The decorations with pebble and mosaics are incredible beauty and special grace. Mrs. Dimitra has incredible patience with the children, they themselves have incredible fun with their crafts and do not want to stop until they are done.
