Peles Castle
he castle and the grounds it sits upon are straight from the pages of a fairytale. It has what you’d expect for a royal residence, grandly designed rooms, luxurious tapestries and fabrics, expertly carved marble and wood. This strikes you just as the tour begins with the staircase up to the main foyer.
Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle)
Bran Castle is arguably the country's most famous medieval landmark, as it is often called Dracula's Castle. The town of Bran was offered to Queen Maria of Romania in 1920, as a thank you for her efforts in uniting the country.

Beautiful sites but it is far from Bucharest and traffic is heavy. With the trip especially if you have a private tour

It's a good day out, we had a man called Caitlin who was really informative but didn’t chat too much, let you stay in all the locations for as long as you wanted, just had to text when we was ready to be picked up

You’re in for a full day of scenery, good conversation and amazing sights . The Pele castle is amazing and the city of Brasa is lovely.

Our guide Caitlin was phenomenal. He was amicable, knowledgeable, and interesting without chewing our ear off. The drive was smooth and we had a wonderful time. We loved castle Peles and Dracula's castle Bran and we even stopped at Brasov which was perfect for lunch and a little shopping. We enjoyed every bit of it. He knew the just how much time was needed for each stop and we never felt rushed or bored at all. My father in law left his cap in the car and Caitlin drove back to us the next day to return it which was super nice of him to do. We highly recommend this guide and tour!

We had a wonderful day traveling through the countryside and the mountains, and then got to enjoy the two castles. Peles castle is very ornate, while Dracula’s castle is much simpler. Both offer great photographic opportunities. Old city Brasov is also a wonderful place to visit. We wish we had more time to spend there, but we were tired after the long day.

I bought a private day tour to the Peles and Bran castles. Due to holyday trafic it took us 5 hours to get to Peles and by the time we got to Bran the castle was already closed. We ended up spending 12 hours on the car driving and only three sight-seeing. I understand Viator cannot control trafic, but this was an expensive tour ($500 euros), they should know better and find alternatives like taking a different route, leave earlier (we left at 8:30 AM) or even not selling a tour on these days. Also, the tour confirmation said we were getting a private tour, but we only got a driver that didn't talk much. Overall, it was my worst experience ever on a tour

Great tour, great driver, good times. We had a schedule mishap and needed to alter the timing of our tour. The local tour company was able to accomodate and we got a wonderful tour of Bucharest and nearby attractions. Catalin was a skilled driver, navigating Bucharest weekday traffic.

I had absolutely the best day with my driver (Catalin)! Since the trip was expected to take about 12 hours (anc could last 16 for traffic delays), we’d coordinated for an early departure from Bucharest and were on the road by 0800. My driver provided historical, cultural and language information during our transit to Sinaia and I was quite pleased with the pace of the journey. Arriving at Peles Castle, Catalin dropped me near the entrance and suggested we meet again in an hour. The lines were long but I was easily able to get an extra 30 minutes to allow adequate visiting time. Each room of the Individual Ticket Tour was impressive. After getting photos of the gardens and exterior, I walked by Castle Pelisor. Despite me using of some of the valuable time, Catalin was patient and flexible. Our drive to Bran was affected by typical traffic and road construction but by driver kept me entertained with music and stories about life in Romania - the time passed quickly. Reaching the entry area for Castle Bran, Catalin gave me several options for the amount of time we could spend their - I opted for one hour with no intention of entering the castle. Instead, I walked to the top of the hill and got views of the town. I visited Queen Marie’s “grotto” and later walked over to the Heart of Marie Church. Before my visit was complete, I walked around in the (reconstructed) Medieval Village and nearby market. Once Catalin picked me up again, we took the “scenic route” (across the mountain passes near Alpin Resort) to Brasov. I guess we were still on schedule because I was offered at least two hours in the beautiful town. This allowed me to get a nice lunch, visit most of the “Top 10” highlights and experience Transylvanian culture in a relaxed, almost incognito atmosphere. Throughout the day, I really appreciated the freedom to make my own schedule with no need to follow a guide with a flag. Needless to say, I was quite elated & completely satisfied when I met Catalin for the drive home. It was a Friday, southbound traffic (to Walachia) was lighter than normal and we made good time to the Center of Bucharest. My driver provided a route that allowed me to get lots of scenic views, pointed out highlights, slowed down for me to take photos, offered alternatives and was very friendly/helpful. I definitely recommend this tour to someone who wants a VIP experience during a visit to Romania!
