  Pros: Trevor was a great bus host and tour guide; super congenial. Jo, the bus driver was very competent, especially on the tight curves. Lunch was tasty and there was lots of space to sit at tables. Cons: I booked this trip not only because of the itinerary, but also because the 'Overview' statement on the page read: "We offer a small group tour...our vehicles range from 9-22 seaters so groups will be no larger than that." However, our tour started off with 34 people and then added 4 more on the way. I think Trevor did a great job corralling all of us, but it may have affected our schedule, given that we had to skip the Otago Peninsula high road viewpoint and the Railway Station. I also would have loved more time at the Botanical Garden...we were only there about 30-40 mins and it was a lovely layout with many plants in bloom.

  Bex was a fabulous tour guide who had significant knowledge of the area and made multiple stops at picturesque locations where she took pictures of anyone who wanted them. She was very flexible and added a couple of quick stops as we drove around. She even offered to stop at a souvenir shop for us, but it ended up being closed early the day we were there (NZ holiday).

  We had a great time on our tour. The BOOKATOUR team had a great itinerary and our guide was very informative and friendly. Lunch at Black Dog Cafe was excellent.

  It was a very good tour with enough time to cover the best places in Denedin. Our tour guide Jason was friendly and knowledgeable. He even managed to get us back to the cruise ship with ample of time.

  There was a lot of confusion around this tour. The tour operator was a little late getting there and no one at the port knew then. The actual tour was good but not much information was given to us from our tour guide. His bus was different from the tour company. His bus was very old and dirty. His speaker system did not work so you could not hear him. The tour included lunch and entry into the castle but the guide said he did not have information about either of those items.   Dunedin & Larnach Castle Day Trip – A Truly Memorable Experience What an incredible day exploring Dunedin and the majestic Larnach Castle! From start to finish, the trip was seamless: • Exceptional Guide Care: Our guide was a true gentleman—always on hand to help me on and off the minibus and patiently waiting (alongside a kind American couple) as I navigated the world’s steepest street at my own pace. Even with a 30-minute delay on the return journey, the team’s support never wavered. • Stunning Sights: Dunedin’s historic architecture and sweeping coastal panoramas took my breath away, and Larnach Castle’s ornate gardens and rich backstory were every bit as enchanting as I’d hoped. • Delicious Local Lunch: I opted for the classic fish & chips—crispy, fresh, and perfectly paired with lemon. I heard the chowder was more of a starter than a full meal, but my lunch left me both satisfied and energized for the afternoon’s adventures. All in all, I can’t recommend this day trip highly enough for anyone visiting Dunedin. From attentive hospitality to awe-inspiring views, it’s the perfect way to experience the best of the region in just one day!

  This was our first experience booking a tour not provided by the Cruise Line. Great experience. Everything worked out as indicated and the local operator did a fantastic job of introducing us to our first on land experience of New Zealand. Lots to see on the tour and about perfect timing for all the off-coach activities.
