What To Expect

*Please note that the PADI Fee (for the PADI Scuba Diver Manual and PADI certification costs) of total 70 Euros is not included in the course fee. The PADI Scuba Diver course is a subset of the PADI Open Water Diver course. It's the first PADI diving certification. It entitles you to dive together with a PADI Professional to max. 12 m depth. If you do want to be a completely independent diver and want to dive with your buddy up to 18 m depth we recommend you to take the PADI OPEN WATER DIVER Course. Content and Schedule: The PADI SCUBA DIVER COURSE takes around 2 to 3 days and you have to do the theoretical part (First 3 sections of the PADI OWD Course without exam) for around half a day, the confined water training (First 3 dives of the PADI OWD Course) for around half a day and one day with two open water dives from 8.30 am to around 1 pm.

Great people, real professionals too. Everything is taken care of. I also hired a camera and got the photo's through wetranfer, worked like a charm. Highly recommend this place.

Norbert was an amazing teacher, very patient, well-informed, and happy to explain more complicated concepts in detail! Not only that, but him and all the other instructors made the course very fun - honourable mentions to Martina and Geetehanjli! The centre of was well maintained with an on site restaurant offering great food, and the equipment was in great condition. The dives itself were great, the local sites offered an underwater museum with towering figures, an array of beautiful coral in good condition, and interesting wildlife - including a stingray, lion fish, scorpion fish, and plenty of Murray eels. Would highly recommend

I did the (advanced) open water training here with my daughter. The atmosphere in the dive center is professional and relaxed. In the swimming pool which is located next to it you get the basic training after which you make a number of dives from the boat. In short, if you want to learn to dive in Srilanka then this is the place to learn it. And if you want to expand your knowledge with advanced open water you should also be here.

Amazing dive school - I am so glad I chose DivingGuru to do my PADI Open Water course. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and Gita was an amazing instructor - very patient, informative and made everyone in our group feel safe and comfortable at all times. She also made it clear what we were doing wrong/how to correct our errors to become better divers. The infrastructure and equipment at DivingGuru are also very high quality and they have a fab restaurant next door. I can’t fault it and couldn’t have asked for better. You’re in very safe hands at DivingGuru. Thank you for taking me through the Open Water course! :)

We went as a couple- one of us completing their license and the other doing free dives. A bonus is that they offer refresher dives if you are licensed but have not dove in a while. The dive shop was fantastic- from picking us up at our hotel to an easy sign in process, the whole operation was very efficient and professional. The dive shop is located on a gorgeous stretch of the beach with a restaurant on site so you can relax and enjoy after your dives. Ellie was by far the most clear, respectful and competent instructor of anything we have ever encountered and would highly recommend doing your course with her!

I did the PADI Open Water course and it was absolutely amazing. The instructors were really nice, competent and helpful. I felt very safe and comfortable during the diving lessons. The dive spots are fantastic, you can see many species of colourful fishes, sting rays and moray eels. The diving Center is located on a very nice beach and right next to it is a delicious restaurant. It is absolutely worth the money and I would highly recommend booking your diving or snorkelling tour here.

Divinguru Nilaveli is an excellent dive operation. My wife & I dived every day while our daughter completed her AOW cert. All the staff we dived with - Patrick, Norbert & Tharshanth - were safe & knowledgeable; special thanks to Tharshanth for taking me back on our last dive to see my first octopus. The organisation was all very smooth & professional, with quick communication via email and WhatsApp with Ellie, who was also lovely to deal with. The only improvement I could suggest to the owner is stocking Divinguru t-shirts & rash-vests!

I can't say how awesome Ellie and the team were at Divinguru! Incredibly professional, and made my introduction to scuba diving an unforgettable experience. Thank you so much for your time, encouragement and the care taken, specifically with regards to the safety of myself and others completing the certification.
Two dives and a whale and dolphin tour were great. Absolutely recommended!

We did two dives and a dolphin and whale watching tour with the diving school. Safety is a top priority here, we felt in good hands at all times during the dives. Beforehand, there was a short but sufficient briefing with a repetition of the most important hand signals for the dive. We were lucky that we were the only divers that day and so we both had 1-on-1 support during the dive. We were shown lots of fish and afterwards we received an explanation of everything we had seen there. The next day we did the whale and dolphin tour mentioned and were not disappointed. We saw whales and countless dolphins that made beautiful jumps and were hunting around our boat. It was good that although we had the opportunity to see the whale, it was not followed by our boat the whole time, as we unfortunately saw with some other providers. So they try to pay attention to the welfare of the animals, which was very important to us. The pick-up service from the hotel is also great. We would go diving here again at any time and can highly recommend this diving school.
