International Arrival in Dushanbe

Meet your guide upon arrival in Dushanbe and begin a guided city tour of Tajikistan’s capital. Explore key landmarks including Rudaki Park, the National Museum of Antiquities, and central city squares, gaining insight into the country’s history, culture, and daily life. Enjoy a relaxed introduction to Tajikistan before continuing your journey toward the Pamir Mountains. Accommodation in selected 3–4★ hotels and full-board meals are included. Hotel preference is confirmed after booking from a recommended list.

Day 2

Dushanbe - Kalai Khumb | 1550 m

Pamir Highway

We set off along the Pamir Highway, a route that transforms quickly from Chinese-built tarmac into a rugged mountain trail. The road follows the Panj River and offers dramatic views of Afghanistan across the border. Overnight in a guesthouse in Kalai Khumb. B/L/D.

Kalai Khumb - Barchidiv | 2600m

A breathtaking drive through the Bartang Valley leads us deeper into the Pamirs. We pass remote villages and towering glaciers before arriving in Barchidiv, where we stay with a local family. Overnight in Homestay. B/L/D.

Day 4

Barchidiv - Lake Sarez | 3300m

Sarez Lake

Our trek begins. We meet our local guides and pack animals before hiking along the Murghab River surrounded by six-thousand-meter peaks. Lunch near a massive boulder known as the "Tea House." Distance: 13 km / 5 hours / +550m / -375m. After lunch we ascend to the natural dam that created Lake Sarez after a massive landslide. The sapphire lake emerges suddenly among the rock—an awe-inspiring sight. Camp near a monitoring post. Distance: 18 km / 8-9 hours / +800m / -225m. Overnight in tent. B/L/D.

Day 5

Lake Sarez - Irkht Valley | 3545m

A special permit allows us to cross the lake by boat. Afterward, we hike through a U-shaped valley with screes and river crossings to reach our camp beneath the Safedhatz glacier. Distance: 13 km / 5.5 hours / +550m / -50m. Overnight in tent. B/L/D.

Irkht Valley - Zaurbek Camp | 4100m

We climb to the shepherd camp of Zaurbek, learning about high-altitude pastoral life. Optional hike to Uchkul Lakes and Kulin Glacier. Distance: 9.5 km / 4.5 hours / +550m / -100m. Overnight in tent. B/L/D.

Zaurbek Camp - Zaroshkul Lake | 4510m

A short but steep hike brings us to the jewel of the trek: Zaroshkul Lake. Surrounded by ice-capped mountains, we camp on its shore—our highest camp. Distance: 11.5 km / 5.5 hours / +500m / -125m. Overnight in tent. B/L/D.

Zaroshkul - Kavk (hot spring) | 3800m

A long descent through glacial moraines and alpine lakes leads us to Kavk, known for its hot springs. Camp by the river. Distance: 16 km / 7 hours / +275m / -1100m. Overnight in tent. B/L/D.

Kavk - Jelondeh | 3300m

Tajikistan

A relaxed walk along the Andarav and Gund Rivers brings us to the village of Bachor. Transfer to Jelonde Motel. Hotspring Shower. Enjoy local hospitality and possibly a hotspring shower. Distance: 17 km / 5 hours / +100m / -500m + 15 km drive. Overnight in motel Jelondeh. B/L/D.

Jelondeh - Turumtaikul Lake (4235m)

After breakfast at Motel we start our trek. we cross into the western Murghab Plateau. After a scenic walk through remote gorges, we reach Turumtaikul Lake. Camp near a pristine water source. Distance: 10–15 km / 5–6 hours /. +870m / -185m. B/L/D.

Turumtaikul - Javshangoz | 3350m

Crossing the Karagurum Pass (4343m), we descend into the isolated Shahdara Valley. Views of Engels and Karl Marx Peaks highlight this section. Overnight in a family house. Distance: 18.5 km / 5–6 hours / +110m / -910m. B/L/D.

Javshangoz - Vrang Lakes | 4400m

A scenic jeep ride and hike takes us to the high-altitude lakes of Vrang. Camp in a shepherds’ hut, surrounded by pastures and mineral seekers. Distance: 14–18 km / 5–7 hours / +1100m / -250m. Overnight in tent. B/L/D.

Vrang Lakes - Vnukut River | 3870m

We ascend the trip’s highest point, the Vrang Pass at 5010 meters. The panorama includes the Hindu Kush range. The steep descent is rewarded with solitude and raw nature. Camp by the river. Distance: 15 km / 8 hours / +610m / -1140m. B/L/D.

Vnukut River - Vrang | 2780m

The final trek down features sharp drops, eroded paths, and breathtaking views of the Wakhan Corridor and Afghanistan. We celebrate our crossing of the Pamirs. Distance: 12 km / 6 hours / +185m / -1275m. Overnight in homestay B/L/D.

Vrang – Langar – Khorog | 2150 m

Ishkashim

After breakfast, visit the Buddhist Stupa in Vrang, offering panoramic views of the Wakhan Corridor and the Hindukush Range. Continue with a scenic drive along the Oxus River (Amu Darya) to Langar village, where the Big Pamir and Little Pamir valleys diverge. Enjoy the dramatic landscapes of the Wakhan Corridor. En route to Khorog, stop at the Bibi Fatima Zahra Hot Springs, where you can enjoy a rejuvenating bath. Visit the Yamchun Fortress, a stunning ancient fort overlooking the valley. In Yamg village, explore the Sufi Muborak Wakhani Museum and its historical solar calendar. Overnight in guesthouse. B/L/D.

Khorog - Kalai Khumb | 1550m
