Explore six historic neighborhoods surrounding the Panama Canal on a 2h45m guided bike tour that dives deep into the political, cultural, and human stories behind one of the world’s modern wonders. This isn't an engineering-focused tour—instead, we uncover the complex logistics, housing programs, social unrest, and cultural transformations that shaped the Canal Zone. Ride through 15–19 km of local streets while discussing U.S. brands like Coca-Cola and McDonald’s, the architecture of canal-era housing, and how American influence reshaped Panamanian identity. A powerful ride through history, power, and resistance.

This is a great bike tour of the Canal Zone in Panama. The guides which we had two , one who guides in the front and the other who stays at the tail this helps to keep you safe in traffic etc. we were a small group as just myself and my wife were the guests. They equip you with a helmet and an ear piece to hear the descriptions and traffic advice from the lead guide. They do a great job with the historic information of the areas you travel through concentrating on the Canal Zone’s history and the people who lived in the areas the architecture and the current situation in each zone. Highly recommend this tour.

The earpieces were great and the guide had so much to tell us! The route was great and busy but not too bad. Jonathan pointed me towards a restaurant for the evening and with his rec I got a free pisco sour ☺️

This was a great tour that explored the vast difference between the US developed canal zone and the neighboring local areas. Johnathan was a great guide with a lifetime of experience growing up in the hood. Excellent organization for this tour, highly recommend it!

Wow what a amazing experience. To start the tour I was given a long range ear piece so the whole tour was right in my ear. Without this you will never hear the tour. This tour sees it all, from casco viejo to the bridge of Americas (entry to the canal) and also some local neighborhoods. Our guides are locals that grew up in these neighborhoods and you can feel their passion for the local culture. The bikes were great. They all had a water bottle holder, shifted good, reliable brakes. Mine even had a handlebar cell phone holder so I could take video and still have 2 hands on the handle bars. The roads in panama city are not always your local park so a few spots require attention. We had a lead guide up front and a clean up rider at the rear to keep us together. With all that I did feel very safe.

This was one of my absolute favorite tours I took while staying in Panama City. It gives you a chance to see places outside of Casco Viejo and explore other great parts of the area. Bring a zip lock bag for your phone in case of rain ;) The guide is awesome, great to have conversations with, and provides great perspective on Panama culture and life.

If like me you didn't read the guide books before arriving in Panamá, no problem, just book this tour and Jonathan will tell you what you need to know, and more! I highly recommend this trip to anyone who is comfortable riding a bicycle and wants to explore Panamá City beyond the old town.

The bike tour with Jonathan and Elena was a very unique experience to see “less touristy” things in Panama City. We went to parts of the city that a tourist would not normally go to. Ths was the first time we had ever tried a bike tour, and the whole thing was well coordinated. We didn’t feel unsafe at all. But we heard a lot about history, how things got to where they are, and why some parts of the city are considered “no-go” zones and how the local community is trying to address that. We also got a unique view of the canal (not the locks, but the canal and the bridge of Americas) which I’m sure we won’t get if we weren’t on this tour. Both guides were fun and open to talk to. Certainly recommend this tour especially if you want to get a more autentic and local view of the country and the city.

Jonathan and Aron were great hosts. You feel super safe with the both of them stopping traffic. Jonathan is a local who is extremely passionate about his local area and that really comes through. He was really knowledgeable and really helped explain the differences in the various neighbourhoods around the Canal Zone! Would definitely recommend.

Brilliant bike tour with Jonathan at the front giving interesting insights into Panama’s social, political and cultural history alongside clear instructions about when to turn left, right and stop. Very well-organised with radio earpieces which worked well and were simple to use. Arun was a great support at the back helping guide traffic and explain how the gear levers worked. The bikes are decent and the ride is generally flat. Highlights included a boat and tug chugging under the Bridge of the Americas, fishermen bringing in their catch at La Boca, a mural showing Panamanian resistance over the years and just the contrast between the vibrant traffic-filled streets and the calm, empty, leafier areas. We even saw some deer. Overall a great way to see six districts of Panama City and get a real feel for its history.
