Bioluminescence is one of the things you should experience during your holiday in Costa Rica. We will kayak through the bay of Paquera and pass some islands. As we start our tour before sunset, we often experience some incredible views in the sky what gives an extra addition to our tour.
As we operate only in small groups we can give a more personal attention to our clients if required. This tour is not private.

We will kayak through the bay of Paquera and pass some islands like Isla Jesucita and Isla Chiquita. Often during sunset we can enjoy some incredible views in the mountains, when the sky turns in orange/red. When the nights falls you will be able to see the plankton glow in the dark. For about an hour you will be able to see this natural phenomenon and be enchanted how fish light up their path in the water, when you move your hands through it or splash with your paddle. We will go on shore on one of the little beaches and you will be able to take a swim is you like. Bioluminescence is found in many parts of the world, however in most locations it is either seasonal or requires perfect conditions in order to occur. Contrastingly, the Paquera Bay is home to bioluminescence year-round but we would like to inform that the moonlight effects the visibility of the bioluminescence and also tides and streamings. Therefore, we are not able to guarentee a good visibility of the bioluminescence in the last week before full moon and the evening of full moon.

The rain is unpredictable...go well prepared to enjoy even if you get wet. The guide not only guided us, but conveyed his taste for the phenomenon. It was a very different experience from the initial minute, even with the possibility of storm cancellation....it was cleaned, we went out to row, laughed, soaked, and enjoyed the expected bioluminescences.

We did this tour with a 1/3 Moon and this was still a lot too much light. The guys are nice but the guide could only speak Spanish. It was a nice night Kayaking round, but during the day we would have seen more....
