Fort Christian
St. Thomas’s National Historic Landmarks, Fort Christian was completed by Danish settlers in 1680–making it the oldest structure in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Fort Christian is a Dano-Norwegian-built fort in Charlotte Amalie, Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Built 1672-1680, early in the first successful colonial establishment on the island, the fort served as a critical point of defense and government during the entire period of Dano-Norwegian, and later Danish, administration, which ended in 1917 with the sale of the islands to the United States. It currently holds the St. Thomas Museum, which holds artifacts and art of the Dano-Norwegian period. It was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1977. You can admire the beauty from the exterior or enter this fort museum to experience the history of the Fort. Admissions are not included in tour price. Admission fees: General Admission Fee (non-local adults with ID): $10 General Admission Fee (non-local children ages 5-12 with ID): $7 It was built originally to protect the colony and island from hostile marauders. Since its completion, it has served a variety of purposes: a jail, a governor’s residence, a place of worship, and a police station. Recently renovated, Fort Christian is a popular site for visitors with its red walls and imposing clock tower make the building perfect for photos. You will have the option to pass by and take pictures, or enter the fort at the $10 pp admission price. Addmission is not included in the tour.

4.00It was ok I expected to see more. I did not feel that we saw much of the island. We saw more of the mountain top and it only lasted approximately 1 1/2 hours or less. The driver was excellent and fun to ride with.

4.00We had Sam as our guide for our 4 hour tropical island tour. He was very kind to our group of 4 ladies. He took pictures for us, gave us history on the area and gave us plenty of time to shop and hang out at the Magens Bay. We always felt safe and had a fun time.

5.00My wife and I have been visiting different Caribbean islands for the past 10 years, usually staying at Sandals, and I can honestly say that Descilla is by far the best taxi and tour service we’ve ever used! When we arrived, I messaged her on WhatsApp, and she showed up with cold beers, water, and soda waiting for us. We always prefer taking a taxi instead of the Sandals transfer for a quicker and more personal experience — and she made it perfect. During the ride, she proudly told us all about the island, shared great local tips, and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed her so much that we booked a land tour with her later in the week, and it did not disappoint! She took us to beautiful historic sites, an incredible local lunch spot, and even introduced us to her dad along the way — such a nice personal touch. For our return trip, she picked us up on time with more drinks ready for the ride, and got us to the airport with plenty of time to spare (I’d suggest leaving the resort around 1 p.m.). Descilla is kind, fun, knowledgeable, and clearly loves what she does. We can’t recommend her enough — book with her as much as you can and enjoy learning from this amazing person! — Kevin & Lisa

5.00We recommend Paradise Taxi for prompt pick ups. Or driver was on time picking up for the airport and on our day of departure. The van was nice with custom seats and extra headroom.
Very poor experience that deserves a zero instead of a one

1.00For starters, they were about 15 minutes late picking us up. Our driver was a nice guy and very knowledgeable, so we soon got past the stress of the late pickup. We saw the beautiful sights and views of St Thomas and agreed with the driver to drop us off at Magen’s Bay for a while and that he was to pick us up at 4 as we had to get back to the cruise ship, or be left behind. When we got out of the water, we had missed a call that our driver “had car trouble” and that someone else was “there already to pick us up and would call us.” The new driver never called. We called the main number and they insisted that the driver was there in a black van to get us and that they would have him call. Again, no call came. We called the main number again only to be told that they would be there to get us in 20 minutes in a silver van. Now as we are looking through the parking lot, we see our original driver in his van! It turns out he did not have car trouble, but they sent him there to pick up a larger party and were making us wait! Very poor service! I realize things happen, but lying to your customers is not a good way of conducting business! Would not recommend!

5.00We had a 4-hour private tour we booked independently, not through cruise company. Kojak was our driver - he was great. I text as we were leaving ship. He called immediately, directed us to where he was waiting, and we were off! He gave us background on the island, answered our questions, and drove safely. The private car (van) was the way to go - it didn’t cost much more than the ship’s tour, and we were able to set our own pace.
