You can walk from the town. The path is not the easiest to find but once you are on it no problems. We took a taxi to the Monastery and then walked down. The Monastery is plain but beautiful. The views from the top are very pretty. On the path (up or down) you will find the Cave of the Apocalypse where it is said that John the Baptist wrote the book of revelations.

Nice to visit where the Apostle John lived and wrote, but a bit underwhelming. Only had about an hour or less of light due to arriving late in the day, and the cave has been commercialised.

Location of pick was poorly marked . GPS showed the pickup point to be the coast guard station exit. No one after 10 to 10:20 by thee buses or with the bus drivers knew what tour was taking place. Pick up time was 10:15. No signage that indicated a pickup point. My groups tickets were never checked. Tour guide was knowledgeable but talked TOO much.
