Sinaia
Sinaia is a town and a mountain resort in Prahova County, Romania. It is situated in the historical region of Muntenia. The town was named after the Sinaia Monastery of 1695, around which it was built. The monastery in turn is named after the Biblical Mount Sinai. King Carol the first of Romania built his summer home, Peleș Castle, near the town in the late nineteenth century.
Manastirea Sinaia
The Sinaia Monastery, located in Sinaia, in Prahova County, Romania, was founded by Prince Mihail Cantacuzino in 1695 and named after the great Saint Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai in Egypt. Situated in the Prahova Valley, the monastery gave its name to the nearby town of Sinaia. The monastery consists of two courtyards surrounded by low buildings. In the center of each courtyard, there is a small church built in the Byzantine style.

Loved the tours of Romania and Bulgaria. Our group had so much fun and I’d love to return someday. Our guide Florine made sure everything went smoothly and ensured we were having fun.

My wife and I have traveled through 20 countries and have used literally dozens of private guides. Secret Romania arranged an outstanding 5 days in Romania. First, the guide they provided us, Vali Olteanu, was thoughtful, knowledgeable and really kind. We spent 4 days with him touring Bucharest, Sinaia and Brosov, and were thoroughly delighted with the experience. Two of the days were spent in Bucharest searching out my grandparents’ and father’s birthplaces and my grandparents’ gravesite (not an easy process in the overgrown Jewish cemetery in Bucharest. Thank you so much for making this a meaningful and emotional trip for me and my wife.

My tour with Victor was *fantastic*. This was one of the best tours - and he was one of the best tour guides - I have ever had (and I have been on many tours!) He was very knowledgeable (told the history as a story), friendly, patient, attentive -- and a great driver. We were able to see and do everything I wanted, thanks to how he planned the day and led me through it. I also learned so much about the history of each place yesterday. This experience was the highlight of my trip to Bucharest -- all thanks to Victor and Secret Romania!

Vlad, our tour guide, made the trip. His knowledge of the area and the sites is unsurpassed. If you take this tour, you should make sure you have Vlad as your guide.

We enjoyed a very well organized and well guided private tour. Florin, our organizer, provided a very nice tour of Bucharest and then transferred us to the care of Bogdan, who guided us on four days of mountain walks and cultural activities in Transylvania. There was an planning error by one of the hotels and Florin worked very quickly to resolve it in a satisfactory way, which is the sign of a good tour company. We saw beautiful landscapes and learned much about Romanian culture, history and tradition. We have traveled all over the world and we highly recommend this company.

We took this tour with Vlad. He picked us up promptly at our address. While driving to our first stop, he gave us a clear explanation of our itinerary as well as interesting info about life in Romania, both historical and contemporary. He was a great guide at stops and followed a good pace. The whole tour is definitely a full day, but he structured it so that we were switching between activities and breaks so that it didn’t feel like we were too busy or taking too long. We were a group of three adults, ages 26-61 and a child, age 9, and really enjoyed the tour…would certainly recommend!
