We only take 10 guests and offer a unique personal experience with 20 years taking guests on our beautiful live-aboard yacht and we still love it!! Private tours are also available on request.
We share our passion for what we do and love meeting people from all over the world and sharing stories from our travels and lifestyle.
We have sailed to many countries on many different boats, so come along and hear the tales of adventures far and wide.
We raised our son on the boat while sailing from the Caribbean and throughout the South Pacific and New Zealand for many years.
Twenty three years of loving and enjoying sailing with new friends from all over the globe!

What To Expect
With a maximum of 10 guests on board you will feel personally looked after and away from the crowds. We sail through the beautiful Bay of Islands to an island stop where guests can go ashore for a hour to hike for incredible views of the bay and the 144 islands. Swim, snorkel or just relax on board while we prepare a fabulous home-made lunch. Enjoy beautiful scenery, beautiful beaches, friendly atmosphere and great conversation then enjoy a great afternoon sail back to Russell all while learning the history of the Bay from a local New Zealander. You hosts, Rick and Robin, share their knowledge of the area and passion for sailing and are happy to give any sailing instruction and show how their fantastic yacht handles. Phantom has a very special pedigree and no sailing experience is necessary for coming aboard! We will see native sea birds - penguins, gannets, shearwaters and may get a lucky visit form the local dolphins of the occasional orca.

5.00Rick and Robin love sailing and it shows and makes all the difference. Fabulous, proper sailing boat that really moves when she gets going! With a limited number of folk on board, it's a great day out. The Bay of Islands is spectacular and this was a great experience. The home cooked lunch was delicious.

5.00A very enjoyable experience sailing round the Bay of Islands with Rick & Robyn. Only 7 guests so good company & easy to chat to everyone. We anchored at 2 lagoons bay & most people swam both or one way to shore. We climbed to the lookout & then back to the boat for a tasty lunch.

5.00We had a really fabulous day out on Phantom with Rick and Robin. They looked after us wonderfully and took us to a beautiful island where we walked and swam whilst Robin prepared lunch. They are supremely experienced sailors who ensure your safety and enjoyment Highly recommended

5.00If you want to get out on the water in the Bay of Islands (and you really should) then go with Phantom Sailing on their gorgeous liveaboard sailing yacht. As other reviewers have said, Robin and Rick are great hosts and it is more like sailing with friends than buying a tour. They have great stories to tell and take you to see some beautiful places, swim spots and Robin makes a great lunch.

5.00We had the best day with our wonderful knowledgeable hosts Rick and Robin. Winds were light but we could sail, it was sunny great people on the tour with us a delicious home cooked lunch and dolphins swam around and under the boat. It was a slice of paradise in the Bay of Islands.

5.00As a life long sailor and boat owner myself I was determined to get out on the water on our trip to NZ. But it couldn't be just any sailboat. If you know you know. In my search I came across Phantom and knew this was the one. And I couldn't have been more right. Phantom is a beautiful and classic yacht and Robin and Rick are awesome hosts. Making us all welcome and ensuring that we had the best day on the water. It was like going out on the water with old friends. From the sailing experience, which for me was hands on, to the delicious home made lunch it couldn't have been any better. It ticked all of the boxes. If you're planning on a day in a sailboat in the Bay of Islands look no further then Phantom.
