Located 10 minutes from Chinon in the beautiful Loire Valley, arrive at the Château du Petit Thouars, a family-run vineyard that has been in the du Petit Thouars family and passed from father-to-son in a direct line since 1634. You will be greeted at our wine office and then led for a walk through our Cabernet Franc and Chenin blanc AOC CHINON vineyard, through the clos and our vielles vignes/old vines, to our impressive cellar located in hollowed limestone caves that are centuries old, where our wines age in French oak casks. The tour then leads to our historic tasting room located in the former stables of the château, where you will be led through an informative and educational tasting of our range of wines. After the tasting, select a bottle of wine to take with your packed picnic lunch that you will enjoy in a unique setting: next to our ancient dovecote, overlooking the vines, with the château forming a majestic backdrop. This is a unique and unforgettable Loire Valley experience.

Such a lovely vineyard and overall experience. We got to do wine tasting on numerous different types of wines after taking a look at the actual process of the wine making. Then we had a private picnic with local delicacies and a whole bottle of wine to share. The best part is that we Biscuits, the most lovely cat that lives on the property, following us around the whole adventure. Great experience. Would definitely recommend!

We enjoyed the history of the chateau and the resident family. The tour of the vineyards and cellars was informative. The host was amicable and very educated on the working of the estate. Delicious wines; we bought several. The picnic was divine!

This tour was one of the absolute best experiences we had during our time in France. The host was personable and engaging. The group was small and felt very personal. The topics were fascinating and informative as well as personal. The wines were top notch! We were broken up from the group for the picnic and got to experience a fantastic meal with a beautiful view all to ourselves! I would recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience a romantic getaway in the heart of one of France's most romantic regions!

How much better does it get than having a picnic in the vineyard! Was given a history of the chateau, a tour of the wine cellar, a tasting and then given a basket full of goodies! My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch while sitting in a secluded table in the vineyard. Wow!!!

My family and I had a wonderful time at this experience. The guide (so sorry we cannot remember their name) was engaging, funny and passionate about the wine and the vineyard. We had a great time learning about the history of the castle and what goes into making the wine. This was followed by a tasting of 4 different wines and a wonderful picnic tucked away in the grounds overlooking the vineyard. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would recommend to people looking for a great unique experience. Thank you Château du Petit Thouars!
