5.00Excellent day ...although we left Colombo at 7am we missed the 9.30 feeding of elephants at Pinnawala but we did see them walk to river then spent time on river seeing them bathe ... Herb garden interesting Driver excellent .

A day in Pinnawala Elephant Sanctuary.

5.00We had an unforgettable visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Sanctuary. Mr. Dimuth was our driver and guide who organized the trip on our request. He advised us of best hours and watching points for main activities in the sanctuary such as feeding and bathing so we caught both and enjoyed a walk to the river watching elephants passing thru the town streets and then bathing in the river. After the sanctuary we visited a local tea factory which gave us a good idea of how the raw tea leaves are being proceeded before we put them in a tea pot. Thank you, Dimuth for the wonderful day!
