Guests under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted.

Vehicles are subject to availability and guests may be upgraded.

Must be 18 years old to operate an ATV, and 4 years old to be a passenger.

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

What To Expect

Upon arrival at the WRCT adventure grounds, our tour guides will provide you with the standard ATV gear including a face mask, goggles, and a helmet. You will then be given an orientation course, which includes driving techniques, safety training and communication signals. Then it’s time to get dirty and explore! Our ATV and UTV courses are not accessible by car and provide participants an up-close-and-personal off-road experience with the Costa Rican land.

Adrenaline and Adventure next to the Peninsula Papagayo

Nothing says adventure quite like the adrenaline rush you get on an ATV—it’s in the name, “all terrain vehicle.” I drive a vehicle that is more capable than most, but it still can’t go as many places as an ATV. The tour is called “Play in Papagayo” and play we did. We went through miles of dry forest, across rivers, to beautiful cliffside overlooks, and ended up at a secluded mangrove estuary that leads into the most beautiful beach probably in all of Costa Rica. We had the entire area to ourselves. I spent most of my time there taking pictures of the wildlife (cranes, hermit crabs, sand crabs, butterflies, and fish). I did not see any monkeys, but I definitely heard them. If I had any advice, it would be to: make sure you wear the goggles they give you and not sunglasses, because the dust from the trail can come in sideways; and wear a mask or gaiter to keep the dust from getting into your mouth or nose. They give you all these things as part of the ride, but you can bring your own or buy them at the property. Afterwards, we went to the Marina Papagayo in the Peninsula Papagayo for drinks. I love how close the WRCT Adventures property is to the Peninsula Papagayo hotels and resort area. The Marina Papagayo's Dive Bar is one of my favorite places, you can have a drink while looking out at all the boats docked there.

This was a highlight of our trip! We booked the ATV tour after the zip lining tour and had the best time ever. Our guide, David, showed us how to use the brand new ATV's and made sure we were comfortable before heading out. The tour took us through the jungle and over several rivers with multiple opportunities to get muddy and emmersed in nature! The views at the top of the hill were stunning and we enjoyed getting to cruise down to the beach and make some donuts in the sand. This location is pretty secluded and offered stunning views. Would highly recommend!

The excursion was lots of fun! Our guide, Mannie, was outgoing, knowledgable, funny, and considerate. We were picked up at the exact time we were told and guided through beautiful areas of Costa Rica and even saw some Capuchin monkeys! The trails are somewhat rocky and at times pretty steep, so you do need to be a bit of a risk-taker and have a good sense of adventure!

Great for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and adventures. Wally was a great tour guide. Highly recommend. Best to go with a small group or people who are equally experienced.
