What To Expect
Plitvice Lakes National Park
Our comfortable, mini-van or bus will pick you up at the meeting point and head up through the countryside towards, Plitvice Lakes. The unity and harmony of 16 lakes and their rare natural and cultural value is not famous only throughout Croatia, but also worldwide; earning this remarkable national park a coveted place on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites. Arriving to Plitvice, we’ll walk through these ancient woodlands led by our experienced guide. The path takes us first across Gornja Jezera, a system of 12 lakes separated by travertine barriers. Then it’s time for a peaceful boat ride towards the second area called Donja Jezera, placed in a limestone canyon. After the sightseeing, we will make a stop for lunch (not included in price) and make our way back to the initial point where our journey started.

Overcrowded bus. Badly handled breakdown

1.00Bus was very small and every seat was full. Then bus broke down five minutes out of Trogir. Instead of returning to Trogir we waited an hour and a half on the side of the road for a replacement bus. No A/c and not really a safe place to stop. The guide kept saying the new bus was 10 minutes away but it took a full hour and a half. People had to go to the bathroom behind trees. When replacement bus finally came I had had enough and got a ride back to Trogir in the broken bus. If the bus was driveable why didn’t they take us somewhere safe to wait? Or at least give us some AC. (Bus windows didn’t open and it got very hot inside quickly )Very poor communication and no trust in the driver or the guide. Company refused to refund money and the women in the office was quite rude. Bad experience all the way around. Accidents and breakdowns happen I know but this one was handled terribly.

3.00This is a large bus tour with 50 plus people. You are on a schedule and will need to keep up with the tour guide and they expect you to stay in the group as you move thru the park. There is a lot of walking and climbing stairs.

5.00An underrated secret of Croatia. The scenery and the views were amazing. The crystal clear water. Such a gem. Very much worth the trip. We booked the tour and showed up to the meet up point about 30 minutes earlier as recommended. Bus ride took about 2.5-3 hours with a stop at a rest area. Our tour guide (Bhari?) was very knowledgeable even though he joked this was his second day on the job (lol). He had a more laid back approach and let you naturally explore the area along the paths. He only asked that we stop at the forks in the road so he can guide us. Definitely opt for the longer route as it’s the most enjoyable. Very good experience there overall. We stopped for a late lunch. Our tour guide had mentioned we could stop at a local area for cheese and honey but the farmers weren’t available which was unfortunate. Overall very worthwhile experience!
