• Incredibly Exciting messy Fun!

  I booked the dune buggy run on the river with POP Excursions March 3, 2026 and it was exactly the thrill I was looking for! From start to finish the crew was incredibly organized, even though our group was pretty large. The ride itself was awesome — a long, muddy adventure through the rivers, local neighborhoods and beautiful scenery. There were so many great moments and it was super refreshing to drive to the beach to wash off at the end. Such a fun and unique experience! You also go to the local area where they have a little gift shop and you can get souvenirs, coffee, cigars, chocolate and mamajuana (their local moonshine) They also had a camera man capturing the whole experience. For a small additional cost we got tons of great photos, and it was absolutely worth it. Another huge plus: the crew was extremely friendly and accommodating. A few people in our group showed up late because the ship and land times are an hour different, but the team still waited for them so no one missed out. The location is super convenient — only about a 2-minute drive from the cruise port, which made everything very easy. • A total blast and we were a muddy mess by the end of it!

  We booked this excursion while we were traveling via cruise ship. Rigo the owner contacted us the night before, giving us the needed arrival time and also sent us a Google maps pin on the exact location where he would pick us up. Our driver Chris, who also ended up being the lead guide on the excursion, was there to greet us and drive us the 20 minutes needed to get to the location where we put on our side-by-side ATV. Chris spoke great English, and was just a super nice guy! Actually everyone we met who worked for the company were just super great people! If you want to, you can drive slow and careful and not get very muddy, but what would be the fun in that? My approach, with my wife beside me, was to drive as fast as I possibly could and get unbelievably muddy! It was hilarious! And very safe because the ATVs go pretty Darn slow! Be prepared to get silt all over yourself, including areas of your body You didn't know existed! I can't stress enough how dang fun this was! I was pretty much laughing most of the way through it! You are fitted out with a helmet and goggles, that after the first few large mud holes are covered in mud and are utterly useless! The next set of mud holes made my glasses useless, so I ended up just keeping an eye out for ATV looking blobs in front of me to make sure I didn't ram into my fellow traveler by going too close. It's totally safe given the speed involved, so nothing to worry about! In the end they take you back to the beach where you started, where you can leave your buggy, and jump into the ocean and clean up yourself and all your clothes by swimming around. Also, when you get back to the starting point, there are outside showers to where you can wash everything out one more time. There are lockers available for rental for $5. Make sure you take everything and lock it up, because everything will get wet and muddy. There is a photographer taking pictures during your total trip, because it is all but impossible to take photos yourself. If you do bring your phone like I did, make sure you have it in a waterproof bag. You stop for a break in the middle of the experience and can take some pictures. I elected to spend the $53 for a 4-minute video and around 30 pictures of us during the experience. This was 45 plus tax and was very expensive. But again given the lack of ability to take your own pictures. I decided to splurge. Heck, you are on vacation right?! We rode back to Port with another family in transportation provided in the back of a pickup. (Picture an old world war II Style 2-ton truck setup, with a roof and comfortable seating). The 20-minute ride back was great as the shade provided by the roof kept us from getting too hot, and the breeze went a long way towards drying our clothes. I just can't say enough good about how much dang fun this was and how nice everyone involved treated us! You must do this!!!

  Our group did the 7 waterfalls at Damajagua then did the dune buggies. This is our 3rd time using this tour group! Would highly recommend them! The paparazzi’s that was with our group made the experience even better! We was a group of nine which consisted of five adults and four children and everyone had a great time!

  From the moment we arrived, the guides were upbeat, professional, and safety-focused. After a quick rundown on how to handle the buggies, we were off-roading in no time—zooming through muddy trails, splashing through puddles, and flying past all sorts of local culture. Prepare to get seriously muddy, and that’s half the fun! Kids and adults had a blast! Make sure to bring a neck gaiter and an extra set of clothes.   Super fun excursion! The scenery was incredible on the way. Our driver was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. It was a great day for me and my family.   Rigo Tour Company never disappoints! Every time I book with them, I know I’m in for a great time. Rigo is always so so friendly and make the tours feel personal and fun, while still being informative. I always learn something new and leave with great memories. Definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a fun and easygoing tour experience. Will definitely be booking again whenever I’m back in Amber Cove.

  We had a great time in Puerto Plata with Rigo. Rigo is very friendly, personable, professional and knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning the history of Puerto Plata and spending time touring the city. The highlights of our tour was the rum factory, cigar factory and dune buggy riding. Rigo took very good care of my family and friends. He made sure we was back to the port on time!

  Rigo was our tour guide and he was absolutely amazing, he was on time and provided refreshments for us. It was myself, my husband and our two young children. He took us to the monkey sanctuary, to see pink street , the umbrellas and finally mud buggies. The price was fair, the ride was clean , he is a good driver. And he gave us so much history of the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 , it was our first time there and we spent our entire day with Rigo and it was the best stop to ANY cruise port ever. I can’t wait to use Rigo’s services on our next trip to the DR!

  We loved this tour. William was so attentive and helpful with everything. The beach we went to Bergantín was beautiful and the food really good. Bring cash because at the beach they don’t accept card payments for the food and drinks. We had some freshly caught fish and some fresh coconut water, they open it right there in front of you. The whole experience was really nice. We highly recommend this tour.

  Amazing company!!! From the start Rigo was extremely helpful and making sure we got the exact tour we wanted. When we arrived in Amber cove our tour guide Augustine was there waiting for us in a new clean van and made us feel very comfortable. Our first stop was the monkey jungle, it was the most amazing experience I've ever had! Then we went on to the buggies they were so much fun!! I can't recommend this company enough! I've never had such a great experience with a company and we have been on alot of cruises. Every person we came in contact with during our tour were so great, they were all so helpful and friendly. We felt very safe the entire tour. I can't wait to come back and we will definitely be using Rigo again!
