On this day we take you to the biggest and worldwide known Slovenian cave system - the Postojna caves. Amazing two million years old and 21 km long system of underground caves is one of the most easily accessible networks of underground caves in the world. First, you will experience the ride by electric train, after that, a guided walk will follow through a series of cave halls with drop stones, pillars, and translucent curtains that create unforgettable impressions. The underworld system is home to the mysterious, unique, and rare amphibian Proteus Anguinus, or "baby dragon" as it is popularly called here.
Back in the daylight, the trip will continue towards the astonishing castle of the robber knight Erasmus. For centuries dramatically hanging in over a 100-meter-high vertical cliff, it's waiting for you to enter and discover its secrets, legends, and myths.
Driving through the green scenery, we return to Ljubljana.

There is a constant temperature of 10°C (50°F) in the caves, dress properly, and wear comfortable shoes (flipflops are not recommended).
The minimum number of participants must apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative date/tour or full refund.
In case you fail to provide us with a desired meeting point up until 24h before departure, your meeting point will be the City hotel (Dalmatinova 15, 1000 Ljubljana)

Great tour but price could be better

5.00The experience was wonderful and Rocco was a great guid who was friendly and full of knowledge about the area and both the cane and the castle. The cost is steep and I would suggest booking straight from the operator as it's much cheaper! The cave is just the right length of time as it's a guided tour but extra time could be given to explore the castle and to take photos. Both areas had friendly staff and the atmosphere was relaxed. The caves were extremely busy even at 9.45 in the morning and I'd suggest being near the front so you can here the guide. A great tour best for spending part of your day when you have limited time.

4.00The castle and cave are a must visit as they are special places. The castle built into the rock is like nothing I’ve seen before with many levels and rooms and a very good audio guide and history. Well worth the visit. The cave is stunning and absolutely huge. No steps at all in the cave, just concrete paths, some are quite steep, but manageable my most without difficulty. The cave goes into the mountain so deeply that you are taken in by a small open train. The only thing that stopped this being a 5 star review because the locations deserve it is the driving of the driver/guide. The drive to the castle and cave was fine, but coming back to Ljubljana was in the rain was not pleasant. The driver was far too close to the car in front. I’d estimate about 5m at over 100Km/h. This was careless driving and dangerous too. There was no room for error if the car in front of us had braked suddenly.

4.00The castle and cave are both well worth the visit. The drive from Ljubljana is also very scenic. Our guide was polite and friendly. He was knowledgeable and professional. However, this tour is very quick and fast paced. There was minimal time to see anything in either place. There was not even time for a bathroom break. Of warning there are a ton of steep stairs in the castle and both require a lot of speedy walking. I think these are 2 places I would have liked more additional time...especially the castle.

5.00It is amazing. The best caves I have ever visited. A comfortable ride to and from the caves and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. You need to be capable of walking about 1.5 miles, some pathways are uphill and in some places steep. You can also stay on the train which is about 1 mile and ride back. Still a cool part of the caves.

5.00Fantastic day trip to the Caves and Castle. The caves are incredible, a wonder of the world underground! The castle is impressive - almost as good as Edinburgh’s!! Luca, our guide, was an excellent guide and shared lots of knowledge with us. He kept us all entertained on the journey! A great day out!
