Our knowledgeable local tour leaders take your group on a fun-filled 10-hour road trip from Prague to Budapest.
This tour offers hotel pick-up for private bookings. You will be picked up from your hotel, apartment, or any other pick-up point accessible by car.
During the tour, we will have a chance to walk around the 19th-century Lednice Palace and Gardens.
In Bratislava, capital city of Slovakia, we have a delicious lunch (not included) followed by exploration of hidden beauties of the Old Town. We learn about the history of Central Europe.
We stroll around the fairytale-like Baroque Old Town of Győr and discover its narrow streets and beautiful views.
This tour offers hotel drop-off for private bookings. Please provide your preferred drop-off location when making the booking.

What To Expect
Zamek Lednice
We’ll have the opportunity to stroll through the breathtaking gardens of Lednice Palace, one of the most beautiful and renowned landscapes in Central Europe. As we explore this impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site, we’ll walk through elegantly landscaped gardens, charming ponds, and romantic pathways. Along the way, we’ll see highlights such as the Palm House, a historic greenhouse filled with exotic plants, and the ornamental Minaret, an unusual yet striking 60-meter-high tower offering panoramic views over the estate. The grounds also feature graceful bridges, sculptures, and hidden garden pavilions, adding to the fairy-tale atmosphere. Lednice offers a unique blend of history, nature, and architectural beauty, making it an unforgettable experience for visitors.
Bratislava
We’ll visit Bratislava Old Town that is famous for its medieval buildings, narrow streets, and little courtyards. You’ll learn about the history of the region as we wander around the city centre. We will also admire the beautiful castle of Bratislava that towers over the whole Old Town. The castle was rebuilt in the 20th century and reminds us of the importance of this city throughout history. In Bratislava you will also have time for a lunch break (not included).

5.00Our Side-trip transfer from Budapest to Prague with Jonathan was a great way to fit in a few spots like Gyor and Lednice not on the normal tour route. Jonathan is knowledgeable and accommodating and the whole trip was relaxed and stress free!
Csenge drove us from Prague to Budapest. The trip was outstanding as she shared so much history. It was outstanding!

5.00Csenge drove us from Prague to Budapest. The trip was outstanding as she shared so much history of Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. And she was an outstanding driver. We made 4 stops including a bonus castle stop in Hungary due to being over an hour ahead of schedule. There was another delightful couple in the van with us from Australia and it made for a wonderful day. So, so much better than a train or flight and it greatly exceeded my expectations-all for a very reasonable price. I will use Sidetrips again without any hesitation.

5.00Our guides Adam and Eric made our trip from Budapest to Prague a scenic, educational and very enjoyable day. . Adam has a deep knowledge of the history of the towns, churches and sites we visited. He was great at distilling it down to fit the time we spent in each place, while still keeping the pace relaxed. We were lucky to have an insightful second guide, Eric, of Bratislava, who had just joined Sidetrip. Both were charming, easy going and had great recommendations for local cafes, pastries, coffee and lunch specialties. The sites we visited were all worth a longer visit, and made nice breaks in the trip to Prague. Adam is also a very good driver.
Our tour from Prague to Budapest, with a side trip to Bratislava, was fantastic — and it all started as a last-minute.

A Journey From Prague to Budapest

5.00Our trip to central Europe started in Prague and finished in Budapest. We considered taking a train or plane, but when we discovered we could have a private driver, including a tour of spots along the way, we were in! Our driver Marketa was excellent. She was on time for our pickup and the car was clean. We first visited the Lichtenstein castle, which was quite impressive. Since this was winter, the gardens were not as beautiful as I'm sure they are in spring and summer. We had lunch in Bratslava, which included time to tour the Christmas markets. We really enjoyed our time in Slovakia and the local food, which I especially loved! We drove on to our hotel in Budapest, which was much nicer than taking a train or other form of transport. I strongly recommend this option to travel and Marketa did a great job, not only driving, but providing us with wonderful stories of the history along the way.
