This walking tour takes 4 hours. Entrance fee to the Jewish Museum is 32 EUR per person. For students 26 EUR per person. It is not included in the tour price. You can easily pay by credit card.
Josefov in Prague is one of the most valuable Jewish sites in the world. One of the most visited museums in the whole world.
The quiet and melancholy atmosphere of the Old Jewish Cemetery from 1439 A. D. leaves an incredelible impression.
In the Pinkas synagogue, now a monument to victims of the Holocaust, the walls are hand-painted with the names of Czech and Moravian Jews who perished in the Second World War. Upstairs there is a breathtaking exposition of drawings made by children in Terezin.
We are going to see all the synagogues, including an ortodox Old-New Synagogue. It is the oldest preserved synagogue in Europe from 1270 A. D. Oldest synagogue in the world outside of Izrael. Still serves as a house of prayers.

What To Expect
The Old-New Synagogue
This is the oldest synagogues in Europe and oldest in the world outside of Izrael from 1270 A.D. It is still working synagogue so the services are kept inside till nowadays. Women are not allowed to be present at the services. They are separated from men in a different hall. They can only hear some of the words. We call it an orthodox synagogue.
Old Jewish Cemetery
This is the oldest still preserved Jewish cemetery in Prague from 1439 A.D. It is the biggest rarity to see it in Prague. There are burried more then 100.000 people. People had to be burried on top of each other because of lack of space. In 1787 this cemetery was abolished by Joseph II. Habsburg.

5.00My son and I went on a private half day walking tour of the Jewish Quarter led by Eva from Eva Prague Tours. She met us at our hotel and kindly suggested we take a tram to the starting point as I have mobility issues. We toured the entire Jewish Quarter at a relaxed pace over 3+ hours. During the tour, Eva gave us a detailed history of each synagogue, grave yard or building we visited. She had a wealth of knowledge and her English was exceptional. We were surprised by her knowledge of Yiddish, Hebrew and the culture which was most impressive. She was easy to listen to, fun, respectful and sensitive. We were fortunate to visit all but one of the synagogues which was unexpectedly closed. The grave of the Rabbi who was said to have created the ‘Golem’ and the Old New Synagogue were spiritual highlights. We had an unforgettable private tour with a highly professional tour guide which was well worth the extra cost. Ask for Eva, she is an excellent guide and will personalize your tour with humor, respect and sensitivity. As we were leaving the Jewish Quarter, Eva called out to a man who happened to be the owner of a kosher restaurant. They chatted together, clearly friends. Later that evening, I called in a take out order to the restaurant and told him we were with Eva that day. We had a delicious meal, which paid respect to both Czech and kosher cuisine.

5.00Eva was simply amazing. She knew minute details about every synagogue, every cemetery and grave site and the complete history of the Jewish people in Prague for the past 800 years. I was lucky and it was just the two of us. I so enjoyed it, I bought a mezzuzah for her as a gift which she is now Displaying in her home. It was a very personal, moving and educational experience for me. We became friends. It is a MUST tour for those visiting Prague and certainly for those of the Jewish faith. Amazing. Do not miss this!

5.00Treat yourself and hire Vadim for all your tours. He is extremely knowledgeable about all things Prague. We checked into our hotel and then went right to tour with him and it was a wonderful introduction to the city. Highly recommend!
