Preah Khan
Preah Khan (Royal Sword) is a temple in the Angkor area. It was built in the 12th century by the King Jayavarman VII to honor his father. The temple is flat in design, with a basic plan of successive rectangular galleries around a Buddhist sanctuary complicated by Hindu satellite temples and numerous later additions. Like the nearby Ta Prohm, Preah Khan has been left largely unrestored, with numerous trees and other vegetation growing among the ruins.
Neak Pean
Neak Pean (or Neak Poan), the entwined serpents. It was built on an artificial island in the middle of a Reservoir (3.5 km by 1 km), which was associated with the Preah Khan temple. Neak Pean was built by King Jayavarman VII in the 2nd half of the 12th century.

This was a great second day tour with our tour guide Sim. We were able to explore the outer temples from the Angkor Wat complex that we didn’t get to do on our first day. We already went to one of the temples on the list, so he accommodated us by going to another area in Angkor Thom that we didn’t get to see. Sim, definitely went above and beyond providing maps, recommendations, and offering any help within the Siem Reap area. He and his driver were both gentlemen. While they didn’t have many reviews at the time of the booking, so I was a little worried. He is a well educated individual, and helped us learn more about the history of the area, daily life, and politics that he has learned. Don’t hesitate to book or you might miss out on the helpful and resourceful guidance he can provide.
