Do you like cooking and would you like to discover Hungary through gastronomy?
I am a professional chef and would be happy if I share everything with you about Hungarian cuisine.
I love cooking and eating great food. It is fantastic when my kitchen is full of life: somebody is chopping onions, someone else is preparing the meat or is kneading dough and we are talking, laughing and the smell of the food fills the whole place.
While you are in Budapest, come, cook together and enjoy this unique atmosphere in the centre.
This 100‹% hands-on cooking class gives you a memorable experience.
If you do not have enough time to make a full 3-course menu with me, please look for my culinary program, called: "Hungarian Cooking Class with Iconic Dishes" and here, let’s make one of the most famous Hungarian dish and learn about local ingredients, Hungarian cuisine, custom, and everyday life.
Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
From the beginning to the end we make together a Hungarian 3-course menu (+ starter). We work together as a team and provide all of ingredients, pots and kitchen equipments. Everybody makes the same menu, so if you book the event the first, you can choose one menu from the following 3 menus. During the cooking you can taste the typical local ingredients and learn about Hungary, local food, customs and history. End of the cooking we eat together and you can enjoy the result of your efforts with a glass of Hungarian wine. We give you the recipes of the dishes, which you can take home. Menu options - please, choose only ONE: Menu A: Cold sour cherry soup, Chicken paprikas with dumplings, Gundel pancake Menu B: Goulash soup (beef meat), Savoury pancake Hortobagy style (chicken), Gerbeaud layered cake Menu C: Creamy potato soup with smoked sausage, Stuffed cabbage (pork meat), Poppy-seed bread dumplings + vanilla custard Minimum 4 participants are required for the class to run.

Goulash soup (with beef meat)
I don't think I need to introduce this dish because everyone knows it. A soup with beef meat and different root vegetables... Sound good, doesn't it?
main
Savoury meat pancake Hortobagy style (with chicken)
I can recommend this dish because it is tasty, light and trendy. Tradition and new way on one plate.
dessert
Apple Strudel (with filo dough) with vanilla custard.
Traditional apple strudel prepared with thin filo dough and warmly spiced apples, accompanied by vanilla custard.
starter
Hungarian farmer's plate
During the cooking you can taste local ingredients (different types of paprika, sausage, cheese...) and learn about them.

Cooking classes when we travel abroad is always a highlight of our trip and this one was no exception. We had a great time and can’t wait to make some of these things at home!

This cooking class was an absolute highlight of our time in Budapest. Not only was the food authentic and delicious, but the experience went far beyond the kitchen. Our instructor Marti was exceptional—she didn’t just teach recipes, she shared the stories behind them, along with insights into Hungary’s history, from the communist era to today’s evolving political landscape. It felt like cooking, culture, and conversation all blended into one unforgettable evening. We left with full hearts, full stomachs, and a much deeper appreciation for Hungarian life. We would take this class again in a heartbeat.

What a Fabulous Time!! Martí could not have been any nicer. She kept us informed with excellent information about our class including directions to the class that were easy to follow. We felt so welcomed from the minute we arrived. Everyone got to participate in the prep and cooking throughout the evening. Martí was a great teacher! She told stories about her life and living in Hungary that kept us engaged the whole night. Finally we sat down to our delicious meal with great wine and good company. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a fun and engaging class while in Budapest.

All I need to start with is "Wow!" This was a unique, genuine experience that exceeded expectations. Marti is a gracious, caring instructor who makes you feel welcome and part of her kitchen studio - which is well appointed and comfortable. The instruction, recipes and meal were amazing - and provided a glimpse into the true culture and cuisine of the Hungarian countryside. Five stars for sure!!

What a wonderful cooking class, Marti is a great chef and host and explained all the recipes we were cooking. It gave me an insight into Hungarian cuisine in a small group which made it feel as though I was having a one-on-one lesson. We prepared three dishes which were authentic and the best part was we were able to sit down as a group afterwards to eat the food. I highly recommend Marti and Flavors of Budapest for anyone interested in learning Hungarian cooking and culture.

Lots of “hands on” experience in this workshop. The instructor was very warm and friendly. She wove a lot of history into her instructions…
