We thoroughly enjoyed the Viator, Premium Private DMZ Tour with guide Sebastian. He picked us up at our hotel in a brand new, Hyundai, Staria touring van; fully equipped with all the technology and air-conditioning. We don’t speak Korean, but Sebastian’s English was excellent – we understood every word. We made our first stop at the Gamaksan Suspension Bridge located a 20 minute hike up from the parking lot. We enjoyed the beauty of the Korean mountains and surrounding nature. Sebastian took us for lunch at one of his favorite local diners. I asked him to order his Korean favorites, so we could be sure to enjoy the food preferred by the locals: crispy dumplings, fried rice, noodles with Jajangmyeon black bean sauce, and big frosty bottles of Cass Beer. Lunch was large “family style” portions, delicious and memorable. After lunch we did the short drive to the DMZ area to explore the third tunnel; dug under the border by North Korean soldiers. The hike down the tunnel and back up was 1.2 km and was a good workout. We then visited the New Dora Observatory site closest to the North Korea border and a farming village. From the observatory’s café, we were able to clearly see (with Sebastian’s binoculars), both the North Korean and South Korean flags – a mere 800m separating them). Photos were prohibited. The image is historically and politically significant. 5 stars for our guide Sebastian. He provided everything – adding up to a great experience. I highly recommend you book a tour with Sebastian through Viator – you won’t be disappointed. Love to all – moduege salang!

Our tour guide, Benny, was extremely knowledgeable and made the entire day seamless. We ate delicious food at a wonderful restaurant and he was thoughtful to bring ice water due to the super hot weather.

Andy was our guide to the DMZ. He was prompt and courteous. He even helped maneuver and accommodate a last minute add. He explained the difficulty of adding my mother to the tour given the limited number of visitors allowed to the site. Yet, he worked the entire time to make it happen and it did happen! We learned so much from Andy about both South and North Korea. Our questions were endless and yet he was patient and thoughtful with all of his answers. He was so knowledgeable and spoke English very well. We very much enjoyed our visit with him and would recommend this tour to anyone to wants to learn about the conflict and the history of these two regions.
