What To Expect
Petra
Our tour will begin with a meeting at the lobby of your hotel or a designated meeting point if your hotel is not within the area. We'll start our 6km walk on the main trail from the Petra Visitor Center, passing through the Siq to the Treasury. Next, we'll hike up a mountain for a panoramic view of the theater, followed by visits to the Royal Tombs, Colonnaded Street, and Qasr Al-Bint. This part of the tour typically takes around 3 hours, depending on your pace, with a minimum of 2.5 hours. Please note that climbing to the Monastery is not included in this itinerary. However, we can discuss visiting it towards the end of the tour. If you'd like to visit the Monastery, you'll need to climb 850 steps. Alternatively, you can return to the Visitor Center via the main trail, which takes around 1 to 1.5 hours. If you'd prefer not to walk back to the Visitor Center, optional golf carts are available from the end point of our tour to the Visitor Center for a fee of 25 JOD per person .

5.00Bassil was such a wonderful guide - friendly and personable. Our conversations were so enlightening, not only about Petra, but Jordan, and the differences between our countries, be it education, homes, energy and more. Highly, highly recommend. As a side note, we travelled during March 2026, and nearly had Petra to ourselves due to reduced tourism due to the conflict in the Middle East - we felt very safe and would encourage others that are considering a visit to go.

Walking through the Siq and seeing the Treasury with his explanations truly brought Petra to life in a way we would have missed on our own. 5.00We did this with a 5 year old and 3 year old (my 5 yo had a broken collarbone at the time and was in a sling). We loved it, wonderful experience. Words can’t describe Petra well enough, you have to try it for yourself. But it is amazing, and people are incredible friendly. Thanks to our guide Bassil who was knowledgeable and patient. Try the camels and donkeys if you can too!
