What To Expect
Petra
Our tour will begin with a meeting at the lobby of your hotel or a designated meeting point if your hotel is not within the area. We'll start our 6km walk on the main trail from the Petra Visitor Center, passing through the Siq to the Treasury. Next, we'll hike up a mountain for a panoramic view of the theater, followed by visits to the Royal Tombs, Colonnaded Street, and Qasr Al-Bint. This part of the tour typically takes around 3 hours, depending on your pace, with a minimum of 2.5 hours. Please note that climbing to the Monastery is not included in this itinerary. However, we can discuss visiting it towards the end of the tour. If you'd like to visit the Monastery, you'll need to climb 850 steps. Alternatively, you can return to the Visitor Center via the main trail, which takes around 1 to 1.5 hours. If you'd prefer not to walk back to the Visitor Center, optional golf carts are available from the end point of our tour to the Visitor Center for a fee of 25 JOD per person .

5.00This trip is well worth it. Our tour guide was Bassil he was a local and explained everything we needed to know. He organised the itinerary. Explained what we will see and how to get there. He also gave us an abundant amount of information, stories, history, culture and religion explaining the area and its significance Doing this tour without basil would have been like seeing a movie without sound. Excellent itinerary. An excellent guide very well worth it. Bassil, gave us some tips and advice for the next day. Where to go and what to see Thank you bassil!!

5.00Bassil was a terrific tour guide and was able to show us sites and viewpoints that we probably wouldn't have found otherwise. He was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. He cover the part of Patra that lads up to the stairs that climb to the Monastery, which you can then do on your own.

5.00Brilliant experience, lovely guide with fantastic English! Beware of buying tourist stuff in Petra! Please don’t do what I did and pay more than about 15JD for a scarf, even a camel wool handmade one!! Basil was excellent though, helpful and funny, brilliant guide!

5.00Our guide Bassil contacted me 24 hours in advance by WhatsApp and was there promptly to pick us up from our hotel on the day of our visit. His English is excellent and he clearly set out our agenda and the options available for walking, horses, donkeys or electric carts on what is an 11 mile round trip. He paced the walk to meet our ability (we are in our 60's) and pointed out plenty of points of historical interest as we made our way through the Siq. Most tourists walked by without knowing what they were passing. He made sure we hit all the big sites and took us off the main track for a number of great photo opportunities. A great day with a great guide, I would fully recommend him
