Halifax Explosion Memorial Bell Tower
We then continue to Fort Needham Memorial Park (10 Minutes drive), located in the heart of the area devastated by the explosion. This peaceful park features the Halifax Explosion Memorial Bell Tower, built in memory of the nearly 2,000 lives lost and thousands injured on that fateful day, December 6, 1917. Spend about 15 minutes here as your guide shares stories of the disaster, the heroic rescue efforts, and the resilience of the city in its recovery. Informative panels and sweeping harbour views enhance the experience, making this a meaningful and reflective stop on your tour.
Mont Blanc Anchor Site
Following our return from Peggy’s Cove (Approx. 1 hour), our first stop back in Halifax is the Mont-Blanc Anchor Site. This dramatic display features one of the massive anchors from the SS Mont-Blanc, the French munitions ship involved in the Halifax Explosion of 1917. Blasted over 3 kilometers from the blast site by the force of the explosion, the anchor now stands as a striking symbol of the event’s magnitude. During this 10-minute stop, your driver-guide will explain the circumstances leading up to the disaster—how a collision between two ships in the harbour led to one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in recorded history.

Messaged our driver for meeting location which was right in front of the terminal. Zamir was awesome! Provided water for us all and car was spotles. He was very informative of history of Halifax and gave us information for all locations we were going to. Having a private tour guide was the best. We moved at our pace rather than the pace of 20 other bus riders. We also could be flexible in the areas we stopped at. He even stopped off at a Lobster wholesaler for a quick lobster lesson. Basically the 5 hour time was ours and he was willing to spend whatever time we wanted at each location. At the end he dropped us off at a nearby restaurant which he recommended and it was wonderful! Highly recommend this tour! Thanks Zamir!!!

Our tour of Peggy’s Cove in Halifax was just simply amazing! Amer was our driver and tour guide and it was so obvious that he loved his city and tried to show us everything great about it! He was so full of information and knowledgeable about everything it made the tour extremely enjoyable. He made sure that we saw the highlights and stopped at this beautiful red maple tree to take our picture because we came for the fall colors! I cannot say enough, good things about Amer! He took us to Peggy’s Cove, the light house, Citadels, and the flower garden. It was great!

What a wonderful way to see Peggy's Cove and Halifax. Our driver was exceptional and modified the tour to meet our needs and desires . This was a better way to see everything without being part of a large tour bus. The large tour groups seemed to be too big and a lot of herding and waiting. Our driver/guide was incredible, and the food stop we went to was a locals only sort of place, but exceptional.

Claudio was our driver. He was very knowledgeable and a great driver. We were ahead of time, so he took us to see other attractions in Halifax. We saw so many things, and were very happy with this tour. We'd highly recommend.
