Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi

The Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is a sacred fig tree, or Ficus religiosa, that stands in the Mahamewna Gardens in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Not only is it the closest authentic living link to Gautama Buddha, it is also the oldest human-planted tree in the world with a known planting date and a recorded history.

Brazen Palace (Lowamahapaya) This is the site of nine-story monastic structure built in the 2nd century BC by King Dutugmunu. The structure is said to have had a refectory, assembly hall, and chapter house, as well as a roof covered in bronze tiles (hence the name "Brazen palace").

It truly was an amazing tour. Navin is a very lively, knowledgeable and caring guide. It’s not only a standard story, but he truly knows his facts if you have any questions. Beforehand and afterwards he also provides you with lots of tips and information. Most of all: He’s just a very kind and fun person to have around and spend time with! And ‘Hij spreekt een beetje Nederlands’. Highly recommended ❤️

We were lucky enough to do a tour with Navin, and what a special experience that was! Navin is not only an incredibly friendly and comic guide, but also a walking encyclopedia when it comes to Buddhism and the history of the city. He knows how to deliver everything in such an accessible and inspiring way that it really touches you – even our teenage daughters (who aren’t usually fans of tours) were hanging on his lips! We really recommend this tour to everyone!!

Wow, this was such a great experience! We enjoyed everything we have seen (and that was a lot before 5am;) We were shown around by Navin and this was also a very nice experience. He could tell so much about the culture, history and origin of the places and people. Furthermore, he had a very enthusiastic energy, so you walk around with a smile on your face all the time. He knows how to find good coffee shops and responds well to the needs of his customers. Enjoyed this day and 100% recommended.
