Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi

The Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is a sacred fig tree, or Ficus religiosa, that stands in the Mahamewna Gardens in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Not only is it the closest authentic living link to Gautama Buddha, it is also the oldest human-planted tree in the world with a known planting date and a recorded history.

Brazen Palace (Lowamahapaya) This is the site of nine-story monastic structure built in the 2nd century BC by King Dutugmunu. The structure is said to have had a refectory, assembly hall, and chapter house, as well as a roof covered in bronze tiles (hence the name "Brazen palace").

Navin's city tour is fun! Next to that, you see and learn a lot. Going by tuktuk from one sight to the other in the beautiful green centre of Anuradhapura. Navin is very knowledgeable! Whatever question pops up in your mind, you will get a clear answer and sometimes a joke in-between. This tour is worth every rupee and you defenitly won't regret spending your time with Navin. Just book and enjoy!

We booked the Anuradhapura city tour with Navin and had the best time! He is a very passionate and enthusiastic tour guide who speaks English very well. He showed us around the holy area and archeological area and taught us about Sri Lanka as a country and Buddhism in a very fun and interactive way. Afterwards he also gave us some tips for other places in Sri Lanka. We would recommend him as a guide to everyone coming to Sri Lanka !!

From the moment Navin picked us up, it was already a happening. We had plenty of room for free input and he fitted our wishes within the tour. The weather was sometimes a bit disappointing, but Navin, as an experienced 'meteorologist', had already taken that into account. The cheerfulness of Navin made everything right!!
