What To Expect

Muelle Luis Piedra Buena

Meeting and pick up at the pier, we leave Puerto Madryn, toward the south, by the Nº 3 national route, and after traveling through 120 miles of pavement and gravel (approximately 2hs and 30 minutes), we will arrive at Punta Tombo, the greater continental reserve of Magellan Penguins (Spheniscus Magallanicus). After the time in Punto Tombo we return to Puerto Madryn

Punta Tombo

This Protected Natural Area was created as such, in 1979, has a total extension of 210 hectares, and can be visited from September to April. The beach is considered intangible area, and in February you will find it, full of Penguins Chicks practicing swimming, especially in the small pools leave it from the tides. This incredible place its home of thousands of Magellan Penguins, and every year since October, they arrive to nest and to have their chicks. You will have 90 minutes to walk among the penguins and then you can have lunch there before we return. Returning to Puerto Madryn we will have more than enough time to catch your cruise ship, so you can continue enjoying Patagonia.

    Nelson and Sol were great We weren’t allowed off the ship for over an hour due to formalities but they were patiently waiting at the port. Punta Tombo was great fun seeing all the penguins in their natural habitat. Sol was an excellent tour guide with a lot of knowledge.
