Sho-san is the tour guide to give you a deeper cultural experience of Kyoto that goes beyond sightseeing. He is knowledgeable on a wide variety of topics, artistic and socio- political alike, speaks perfect English and has a great sense of humor. Definitely recommend booking this tour. You won’t regret it.

The guides are quite knowledgeable about the history, martial arts and culture of Japan and Kyoto, so I really enjoy walking around the city talking. Guidebooks show you around hidden temples and shrines, where many people visit Kyoto sightseeing spots, but few have much information.

Sho is very good at explaining and guiding. I love traditional Japanese culture and Zen, and this time I wanted to learn more about Japanese swords, so I asked him about it. He kindly organized a sword-focused tour for us in Kyoto. We around 4 places. He was excellent at explaining katana, history, religion, temples, and shrines. Everything was easy to understand and very interesting. It really made me think, and I was able to deepen my understanding and motivation to study more. It was a very meaningful experience for both me and my daughter. After tour, she said, “I was so happy!” We made wonderful memories. Honestly, thank you so much.

All the way from Uganda, I was overjoyed at visiting Kyoto, and a day with Bumi Tours was one that I'll never forget! I booked a private walking tour of Shoseien Garden with Sho, and it was pure magic. He explained the Japanese designs of the garden, how the rock, water, and plants work in harmony so enthusiastically and it reminded me of oral stories back home. We skirted around crowded spots, and Sho took amazing pics with plenty of atmosphere reflecting the peaceful site. He speaks perfect English and added hilarious comparative anecdotes, including samurai legends and our Ugandan warriors. The tour was as intimate as if we'd been rambling about with an inside friend who knows Kyoto better than the back of his hand. For a memorable day, go with Bumi Tours - 5 stars from me!
