What To Expect

Mount Kilimanjaro

Your day trip begins with a hotel pick at either Moshi or Arusha then jump in for a relaxing drive to Marangu gate for registration with the authorities before you begin your long-awaited hike. This route approaches the mountain from the southeast part. Our main task for the day is to make sure we reach Mandara Hut, the first point of a full hike. We will only trek through the lower attitudes, taking our picnic lunch en route to Mandara Hut. Once we are at Mandara Hut, we will rest for approximately 30 to 45 minutes before we begin our slow descent back to the Main Gate. Our driver will be waiting for you to drive you back to your hotel with relaxing music and cold or warm Kilimanjaro beer to take away the tiredness. Not only should you climb it but drink it too. Please bring your non-disposable water bottle.

My wife and I had an incredible Kilimanjaro day hike. Emmanuel, our friendly driver, shared insights about Moshi Town and the Chagga Village on the way to Marangu Gate. There, we met our guide, Luck, who made us feel safe and confident throughout the hike. The trail to Mandara Huts was stunning, with lush, green forests and moderate difficulty. Both Emmanuel and Luck were fantastic. I highly recommend.

This moderately challenging hike takes you to the first camp on Mount Kilimanjaro and offers a wonderful experience in nature. Along the way, we spotted Colobus and blue monkeys, plenty of birds, and even caught a glimpse of a Dik-dik and a Suni. My guide, Zakayo, was exceptional friendly, knowledgeable, and always eager to answer my questions. He paid close attention to my pace and recognized my limitations, making the hike enjoyable and comfortable. A good pair of hiking boots is essential for this trek! I highly recommend this company for anyone looking for a memorable and well organized hiking experience.

This is a great trip for first-time hikers or anyone with a short stay in Tanzania (we were both). Our guide, John, was very knowledgeable about Kilimanjaro and Tanzania. It made the hike feel faster because we learned so much along the way, and we got to stop several times to see the monkeys! We highly recommend this 1-day execursion.
