Maria Theresa established here the first mining & forest academy in the world. Time for a tasty lunch (not included). Have a real gastronomic experience in Microbrewery Erb - great Slovak food with combination of top quality Slovak beer from natural ingredients. Beers: ERB lager, special dark or the exclusive limited edition. What will be your favourite? Some free time to buy souvenirs or just strolling around. It's time for a great coffee & home-made cakes, let's go to the Cafe 4 Sochy to enjoy it, well to fall in love with this place. History lesson not only about mining. Lots of fun with your guides.

5.00Thank you Martin for a great private trip to Banska Stiavnica. It is a picturesque and exciting old mining town located 2 hours east of Bratislava, and a Unesco World Heritage Site. We visited both the New and Old Castles (now museums and various exhibitions), the Town Center with beautiful buildings and a detailed mural depicting the long mining history of the town and its Academies which Martin explained, the spectacular Calvary (Golgatha, the crucifixion of Jesus), and the Hodrusa Lake (my own request). Martin is a wealth of knowledge, I got great information of the different places we visited, he speaks very good English and we had many nice, fun and interesting discussions during the full day tour. I can really recommend this great tour!

5.00Definitely not to be missed! Very impressive the walk to Calvary, the old castle is certainly one of the best visited. It is also worth getting in, which castles, often more beautiful outside than inside, do not always deserve. The village is really very very nice, certainly the snow falling and the Christmas atmosphere have done their part. Going to Slovakia without going through here, it would be really a shame

5.00We had an excellent tour to Banska Stiavnica with Peter. Peter is a highly professional, dedicated and informative guide. The sites were beautiful and the place is packed with history. We highly recommend having lunch at the Ruin Bar ( the only one in Slovakia, we were told). We highly recommend Best Slovakia Tours. You will have an awesome tour and time.

5.00If you're looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of the big city this is the tour to take. We did the tour recently and we're able to take in this little town and learn how it use to be and how it is today. The tour goes at your pace so you never feel rushed. 1 thing to be aware of is that this tour envolves a lot of hills. I'd recommend this tour to anyone that has an extra day in Bratislava. The tour company communicated with us and we had no concerns going into the tour. Probably our most favorite tour we took in Slovakia. Thanks again

5.00We had such a great experience with Peter. Pickup at the hotel was perfect, the drive was smooth, and Peter went above and beyond to accommodate us. We had a wonderful tour of the very cool mining city, the castle, a delicious lunch, and still made it back in time to take the boat to Vienna! Peter is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and has a real talent as a guide. We can't wait to come back and do another tour with him!

5.00Don't let winter deter you!! Our tour of Banska with Peter on a cold January day was fantastic. Banska was both interesting and stunning. And Peter is a wealth of knowledge, I'd thoroughly recommend seeing the sights of Slovakia with Peter - next time it will be the High Tatras for us!

5.00If you are looking for a day trip to a picturesque town in the Slovak countryside, this is a great choice. Our guide was knowledge and spoke excellence English. Highly recommended! Read on for a more detailed description: Great tour! Martin was our tour guide and he picked us up about 2 mins from our Air BnB. The ride to Banska Stiavnica was about 2 hours-the end of the ride has a lot of hills and tight turns, so if you get motion sick easily you can let your guide know to slow down and he will. Banska Stiavnica is quite picturesque-your first stop is at a museum that used to be a lookout tower. Martin, our guide, was very informative and spoke excellent English as he led us through a tour of the museum. Then, we walked into town, where Martin told us about the town’s past as a mining town. We also went to the castle, where we saw the prison cells, bell tower, and some of the old artwork. There was also an option to do a tour of the Stations of the Cross church, but we opted not to do that. Afterwords, we had lunch at a local restaurant which was very good. The day ended with us going back into town, doing some souvenir shopping, and eating some ice cream. Afterwards, Martin drove us back.
