Krushunskiye Waterfalls
The Krushùna Falls offer an excellent opportunity for a one-day escape from the city, especially during the hot summer months when one can enjoy a nice walk up the cascade and a refreshing dip into the natural pools along the way. The falls are the biggest travertine cascade in Bulgaria, unique with its picturesque scenery, lush vegetation, numerous round-shaped terraces and small natural pools with mineral water. The main waterfall is about 20 m high and it splits into several smaller ones along its way down the soft limestone rocks. There is a path that allows visitors to go up the river and get to the spring of the waterfall hidden in a cave. Along the way there are steps and bridges so that one can get the best views of the cascades, pools and mossy rocks. In the rocks around the Krushùna Falls one can spot a few ancient caves that were inhabited by Christian hermits practicing Hesychasm, an Eastern Orthdox mystical tradition of prayer in solitude and seclusion, in the XIII – XIV centuries.
The Devetàshka cave is a picturesque karst cave near the waterfalls. Unlike other caves Devetàshka is very well lit and its floor is covered by lush greenery, especially in spring and summer, so sometimes it is hard to believe that one is actually underground. After that you will have free time for lunch as well.

Very professional and informative day trip, highest rating given from all of our party. Our tour guide Dhiraj was truly excellent. Deep understanding of the history, culture and landscapes as he drove (very safely) and guided us throughout the day, nothing was any trouble for him. Thank you Dhiraj, you are a credit to tourism and helped us achieve all we wanted to do and much more.

We made a quick departure, less than 24 hours before the start of the trip, 6.7.2024, with our own car and our own English-speaking guide, 10 hours, from Sofia. Private Day Trip to Krushuna Waterfalls and Devetashka Cave. We were lucky. The guide was super good and motovated too at his job, like it was done for the 2 of us, we got a little on. Thank you driver-guide from Sofia Julian City-Tour for a nice trip and a different day. EDIT: We are 2 women, freinds from Finland.

It was very amazing! Our guide, Julian Balahurov, gave us all the time we needed to enjoy and have fun. We saw very beautyful parts of Bulgarien Nature and had a very delicious and real bulgarien lunch. And Our special THANX goes to Julian for never getting tiered to answer All Our questions!

Nice guide. Observed schedules. Cool. Beautiful and pleasant place, accessible to less athletic. Watch out for mosquitoes. Possibility of restoration at the falls.

We had a very enjoyable day to the caves and waterfalls. Our driver/guide was very friendly and helpful and went out of his way to make sure we had a great time! He even had English pop music cds 😜 it was just him, my partner and I and we felt so looked after and safe. Would defo recommend, especially on a quiet week day as we had the caves to ourselves!!!

This was such an amazing experience with Antonio. He knows the places well and the private tours are a very efficient way to get out as much as you can from the holiday.

We were a group of three girls travelling to Krushuna Waterfalls then to Devtashka Cave, our guide for the day was Orlin, who was very knowledgeable and a excellent host for the day. He picked us from our lodgings and made sure we had plenty water etc for our day trip. I would definitely recommend this trip as they were both beautiful to see. We went on our trip in September 2019.

Very good organization to know the most hidden corners of Bulgaria. The caves, the sound, the setting, the waterfall and the mix of colors are impressive. In addition, our guide, Vasil, was very attentive and had a lot of patience, respecting our times to photograph and enjoy the landscape. Recommended without any doubt!

My cousin and I were staying in Sofia for a few nights as part of a bigger trip travelling. We were told that the Bulgarian countryside was a must see so we booked directly with City Tour Sofia. They booked and confirmed everything over email and the night before our trip our guide Ivan rang us to confirm our pick up time and location. Ivan was absolutely FANTASTIC! He was so knowledgeable about Bulgaria and as we drove he explained the history behind the different areas of the country and their importance. It was a great trip before we got the waterfalls and cave, but when we did they were breathtakingly beautiful! The waterfall was unlike anything I have ever seen. But to beware of mosquitoes, I got bitten a lot because I forgot repellent! On the way back we even stopped at a local fruit and veg stall and met the couple there selling the stuff from their garden! They were the best apricots ever! If you want to experience the vast, changing and beautiful countryside Bulgaria has to offer, I would definitely recommend this trip!
