What To Expect
Statue of Ismoil Somoni
ISMOIL SOMONI COMPLEX We're kicking off our tour with a visit to the incredible Ismoil Somoni complex! In this incredible complex, you'll find a magnificent monument to Ismoil Somoni, located in Dusti Square. This stunning monument was constructed in honour of the founder of the Tajik nation, Ismail Somoni. I. Somoni was the head of the Samanids State in the 8th-9th century, and this impressive monument stands at a whopping 11.5 metres tall! NATIONAL LIBRARY Next on our list is the incredible National Library, located in the Somoni complex. This is the country's main library, and it's got a very important job: to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the people of the Republic of Tajikistan. The original State Library in Dushanbe was founded in 1933 and named after the incredible Persian-Tajik author Ferdowsi. The new national library building opened in March 2012 and it's a sight to behold! The nine-storey building features 15 reading halls as well as over 20 departments.

FLAGPOLE Next on our list is the incredible Rudaki Park and Flagpole! You'll find the STATE FLAG SQUARE right in the heart of Dushanbe, just to the left of the Nation Palace. This amazing flagpole has even made it into the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest flagpole in the world! It stands at a whopping 165 metres tall, spans 1800 square metres, is 30 metres wide and 60 metres long.

5.00A huge thank you to Bunyod Tour and our wonderful tour guide Ayatollah. He was incredibly patient and made our trip unforgettable. He took us to an amazing lunch spot and when we accidentally went to one we didn’t like, he immediately knew the best alternative. His local connections around town are impressive; even when we visited the mosque right after Friday prayer (normally closed to the public), he managed to get us in. Overall, the Tajik people are incredibly welcoming and hospitable. I highly recommend this tour because it’s truly one of the best ways to experience Dushanbe and the region.

5.00Very well organized day. Hayat, the guide and driver, knows the city and the places to visit perfectly and answers any questions that are asked about the places you are visiting. Dushanbe is a city that is "rebuilding" its past through new myths and heroes erased during the Soviet period. The Covered Market is really fascinating. Definitely worth a visit.

5.00Khoja was my guide on that day. He’s young, energetic while he takes great responsibilities on his work. He made good time management, ensuring all the spots were visited. He also provided much information to me at each spot - much appreciated. For the spots themselves, most of them are very stately. I certainly love the greens in the Eram Park and the local lunch with dumplings and salad. The bazaar was also impressive.

5.00Yesterday, I took a six hour private tour of Dushanbe. It was my first time visiting this wonderful country. Mavjuda was my guide from Bunyod-Tours and she did a wonderful job! First, her English is very good. As a college graduate, she also knows Tajik history and city facts quite well. We visited all the major sites around the city, not only the monuments, but The National Museum of Tajikistan (with an hour tour by a museum guide which was actually quite interesting), lunch at a restaurant I’d never find by myself (to eat a popular Tajik dish), Navruz Palace (which was stunning), the Mehrgon Market, plus other places. I would highly recommend taking Mavjud’s and Benyod-Tours in the future.
