What To Expect

A Full Day Charter will include; a safety brief and orientation of the yacht we will then head out to the bay of Gibraltar. We will hoist the sails and shut down the engine, Starlet of Dover will move silently and effortlessly through the water using just the wind for power. Sit back and relax or pitch in with sailing the yacht, brush up on old skill or learn some new ones from your experienced crew. Keep a watchful eye open for dolphins along the way! We will schedule in a swim / lunch stop on the anchor where you can have fun in the water; swim, snorkelling or stand up paddle boarding before heading back to our berth in Queensway Quay marina, where you will find several bars and restaurants along the waters edge for cocktails and sundowners.

It was a fantastic sailing experience. John and Alex were amazing hosts. We were fortunate enough to sail alongside a group of playful dolphins that swam right alongside us. We also had an unforgettable swim in the middle of the ocean. I was so ecstatic that I almost fainted from emotion.

Last minute booking with John and Alex. Made to feel very welcome as soon as we boarded, in fact they were brilliant hosts through out the entire day. Both clearly very knowledge and experienced sailors. They spent time to clearly explain the rules and safety to the kids before we set sail. Through out the day we could engage in as much active sailing or as little as we wanted. Once out of the mariner either I or one of the kids were always at the helm, with Alex alway ever present to provide suggestions. First out into Straits for some serious breeze and spray in your face sailing, and then back into the shelter of the bay for some more gentle cruising with plenty of tacking practise. Great stop for lunch and much needed cooling swims. We all returned to shore with tired arm muscles and the kids having learnt some new knots. Will return next time we are in Gib.

This is an absolute most do ‘when in Gibraltar’..the experience is definitely a highlight of Gibraltar..As avid sailors, we were so impressed with the professionalism of the hosts and quality of the boat and the surrounding waters of Gibraltar..fabulous day with John and Alex!!⛵️☀️

What an awesome experience - fantastic weather, fantastic food, lovely company & we even saw dolphins! It was also a treat having a swim in the bay. Communication & clarity were excellent from the website onwards and Alex & John couldn’t have been more friendly or accommodating. It was great being able to get involved and seeing how considerate John & Alex were. This trip was more expensive than something we would usually do but on a special family holiday it allowed us to make memories together we will cherish and was worth every penny. Thank you so much and happy sailing!

First time sailing with my family was good fun and the people were very nice! Definitely the best! A lot of good details about Gibraltar and Spain and their history and all the boats around them. Very well taught and proud of the effort that they put in for us. Snack time was the best with fresh food and drinks. Snack time was just after swimming which was perfect when feeling the sun directly on you. They have these amazing high quality bean bags that just sink you in and it gets even better with feeling the breeze the water the food and the effort made just for you. This is a once in a lifetime feeling. Don’t miss out on this as they are so friendly like family! Definitely would go again! 10/10 sensational!
Overall, it was an amazing trip and as expected. Loved the dolphin views, the yacht, yum food, boat peddling & relaxing.

The favourite part of the trip was the hospitality by Alex and John and the enjoyable experience that created great memories! I would definitely recommend couples and families to choose this lovely couple. You get to learn to sail too :)

We (2 adults & 2 children) chartered the Starlet of Dover for the day last weekend and it was absolutely amazing! Owners John & Alex made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped on board at Queensway Quay. They allowed all of us to get involved with the sailing throughout our trip. The kids learned so much! We loved hearing about their experiences at sea. My husband got to fish from the back of the yacht, we got to see the Rock from so many different angles, we spotted hundreds of dolphins and the kids loved paddle boarding and swimming when we dropped anchor. Our lunch was delicious and our glasses were never empty. We didn’t want the day to end. A lovely, relaxing experience that we all can’t wait to repeat. We’ll definitely sail on the Starlet of Dover again!

We booked a day out sailing as the start of our holiday. What a great start! Alex and John were very genial hosts welcoming us on board their beautifully maintained 48 foot yacht with a Sangria. We then motored out into Gibraltar bay before raising the sails. Alex proved to be an excellent instructor explaining to my son who had not sailed before the art of helming and points of sail. Meanwhile John refreshed me on the intricacies of sail trimming as I was somewhat rusty having not been on sale boat for 15 years. Throughout they demonstrated that we were in safe hands and experts in handling their boat, but in way that made us feel very welcome and encouraged to get involved. The day rounded off with delicious Tapas at anchor off the beach. Throughout I was impressed with the warmth of welcome and as a Former Naval Officer, their seamanship and boat handling skills. A great day out for me and my family - Highly recommended

From the minute we booked this trip to the last goodbye- warm, relaxing, cared for, spoiled. John and Alex are caring, professional, knowledgeable and fun! We booked a full day charter from Gibraltar as a birthday treat for my husband. The weather scared us a bit on the day, was supposed to be raining and thunderstorms- but it was fine in the end, just as Alex said it would be. The yacht is amazingly spacious inside and out. We boarded it at around 10 in the morning. Done all of the necessary procedures- safety is important for Alex and John- and headed out into the Gibraltar straights drinking amazing freshly made Sangria prepared by Alex :) All through the day the sailing was comfortable and fun. We saw dolphins. We went on a paddle-board. We had amazing food and drinks. Listened to our music. Watched a regatta in Spanish waters. Just chilled and relaxed to the sound of waves. Alex and John were very attentive, accommodating - great hosts! All-in-all - it was a luxury and relaxing experience! I would recommend it to everyone!

John and Alex are great hosts. We had a delightful day on the water of sailing, swimming, eating and sight seeing. They are very knowledgeable about the area, fantastic sailors and great people. We would highly recommend this day trip to anyone who loves to be on the water!
