Angkor Thom South Gate
Approaching Angkor Thom you are first met by the grand causeway that crosses the 100 m wide moat which is flanked on either side by a Naga balustrade beginning with a massive stone carving of a seven-headed Naga (mythical serpent) being held by a multi-armed and multi-headed giant. On each side, there are 54 stone giants pulling on the body of the Naga serpent. On one side, the giants represent Devas featuring slender oval eyes and a casual smile, on the other side, depicting Asuras with round bulging eyes and grimacing faces, together representing an endless tug of war between good and evil, the polar forces generating the dynamism of life itself. Some will also connect it to the ancient myth, Churning of the Sea of Milk, as so famously depicted on the southern gallery wall of Angkor Wat, and go even further to say that Angkor Thom represents a giant mandala with the Bayon at its center, representing the famed Mount Meru.

Chanra was a great host. arrived on time (too early at 445am, but need to get going for the day!!), and had a reliable and safe Tuk Tuk and driver to take us around. Lots of knowledge and information was shared through the day, and any questions happily answered. We learned a lot. Thank you!

We had Bunthin Theap who was an amazing guide, with a really comfortable car as there were 5 people in our group, we all sat comfortably, he was punctual, spoke really good English, dressed very well, and he had so much knowledge of Angkor Watt, our sunrise tour began at 5.15am with our hotel pick up. The Angkor Watt temples were nothing like I imagined, he explained to us the history of the place and luckily there weren’t many tourist there at that time so it was perfect for us. He helped us, by taking amazing pictures, knew all the right spots of where to look. We had an amazing day!

Chanra was a fantastic guide, with a huge amount of knowledge and passion for educating on Cambodian culture. He's a super friendly person with great English (and a knack for taking photos) He answered every question we had comprehensively and had great routes through the temples that gave you a great experience and didn't feel like you missed anything. Highly recommend and would happily go on another tour!

Chanra was the loveliest guide. He is vibrant, spirited, insanely passionate and knowledgable. He is the most wonderful guide, I have ever had the chance to be toured by. He is unbelievably devoted, cultivated and cultured about all Cambodian history. I could have not dreamt of touring Angkor Wat and all its mysteries with any other guide. I wholeheartedly recommend Chanra!

Manoune and driver David guided us around Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom for two days. They were very hospitable and adjusted the time to fit our pace and needs. Manoune was an excellent guide with a great knowledge of Cambodian history and religions. His love for his country and these ancient sights is evident. He provided details about all areas and the carved wall murals revealing the ancient stories and meanings. The area is large and with his guidance we made the most of our time. We also visited the Land Mind Museum which is a must see. I can’t imagine visiting this area without his help. I highly recommend Manoune to be your guide. He made this visit a lasting and meaningful memory! We are grateful!

We did a 1 day big loop tour (as we already visited the small loop some years ago). Bob was our guide and he did a wonderful job. He gives you all the information you need and even more. We had also nice conversations during our tuktuk rides between the different temples we visited. We strongly recommend Bob!

We had a perfect 3 days tour in Angkor Wat area with Chanra, english speaking guide full of energy and smiling attitude. I would strongly recommend him for the details of the tour (wet refreshing towels after each stops and amazing pics he takes of you) and for the deep knowledge of all sites visited during the tour! Wish you all the best Chanra!
