Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park
The Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue in Bali is one of the largest and most impressive cultural landmarks in Indonesia. The statue, which stands at a height of 121 meters, is a representation of the Hindu god Vishnu riding his mount, the eagle-like Garuda. The journey to building the statue was a long and arduous one, taking more than 25 years to complete. The idea for the statue was first proposed by the Indonesian artist Nyoman Nuarta in 1989. He envisioned the statue as a symbol of Indonesia's cultural heritage and a way to attract tourism to the region.
