This very remarkable Waterfall is one of the tallest in the area, spewing crystal clear glacier water 80m into its basin. The lovely and attractive path leading to Materuni Waterfall is located 2400m above sea level.
It crosses through valleys and hills covered by tropical rainforest, past coffee, banana and avocado “shambas”, the Kiswahili word for farms. On a clear day, great views of Kibo and Moshi town can be seen. The hike to the base of the Waterfall can be demanding at some point and hiking boots are recommended especially during wet seasons. As this trip is so close to Moshi town it is ideal for those people with limited time but who would still like to see some of the nature and beauty that this region of Tanzania has to offer.

What To Expect
Materuni Waterfalls
Materuni is one of the few villages of wonder in Northern Tanzania sitting at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. The village is blessed with full of all the beauty worth visiting for holiday, weekend outing or vacation. While in the village, the scenic view of Moshi Town and Mount Kilimanjaro is astonishing. This green village with fresh air from green vegetation welcomes visitors to explore the beauty of the land and cultural heritage of the Chagga people. In the morning, our guide will collect you from your hotel in Moshi and take you to Materuni, a village that is very beautified by an impressive waterfall. Through your hike walk down the Materuni base, you will have a chance to pass through the valleys and hills covered by tropical rainforest, banana, and avocado farms.

5.00Together with my daughter we did trips and tour to the waterfall with Alpha van Oserok, with lunch at a Chagga tribe and with a coffee ceremony. Alpha picked us up at our hotel and together we walked to the waterfall. Along the way he explained a lot about all the plants, trees and animals that could be seen there. He is a relaxed and extremely experienced guide and we had a great day.

5.00The tour to Materuni with Alfa as our guide was a wonderful experience. We were able to plan everything in advance with him and he was especially flexible with our wishes. We would especially like to highlight that he knows all the important places very well and knew how to explain everything. We also visited a coffee farm where we learned the coffee process, with a fun atmosphere. All in all, a wonderful tour with an extremely pleasant and knowledgeable guide. We can recommend this tour to anyone without restrictions.

5.00This tour offered a wonderful chance to see and explore the forests at the base of Kilimanjaro, while also providing an opportunity to learn about the rich cultures of the area. Alpha and his brother were very knowledgeable. The tour is not rushed, with plenty of time to relax and explore. Highly recommend for anyone passing through Moshi.

5.00I had such a beautiful time with Alpha. From the first communiqation to the drop off he was super nice, welcoming and helpful. He did provide me with a lot of information about the nature during our walk. And of course the nature surrounding itself is so beautiful. It was a pleasure to do this trip. Highly recommend.

5.00We have booked this tour with OseroKtrips and had the pleasure to meet Alpha who was our guide for this tour. Alpha was so kind and friendly and went above and beyond to make our tour a memorable one. As we were on our honeymoon he even surprised us with a toast that he’s organised for us at the village. It was truly a memorable experience and the trip itself was incredible ! We tasted the delicious coffee made from the villagers own plantations and seeing the process was captivating for coffee lovers like me! We hiked all the way to the waterfalls on the Kilimanjaro slopes and had incredible views of nature. Alpha even took some lovely pictures of us and took great care of
