Scenic Spots of Jinhaihu
You set off from our hotel at 8:00 this morning, after about two hours and via the beautiful Jinhai Lake and Yangzhuang Reservoir, the Ming Great Wall rebuilt on the basis of the North Qi and piled up by stones, will come into your sight. (Dating back to 550AD, the North Qi Great Wall has a history of more than 1460 years and stretches mainly from the areas under the administration of Hebei, Inner Mongolia and Shanxi provinces. The North Qi Great Wall is seldom seen nowadays. Some sections fortunately remain in its original appearance because they have been rebuilt as the basis of some parts of Ming Great Wall). Because of the wall isn’t in good condition and has not been rebuilt yet, you will have to walk on a path along the wall where you can also feel its turbulent history. Long stand the Great wall through fierce battles over the Chinese history. Along the two sides of the Wall are fruit frees, blooming in spring, luxuriant in summer and fruitful in autumn. The views feature themselves quite differently in the four seasons.
Pinggu Jiangjunguan Great Wall
After climbing up a mountain path for about 10 minutes, you are beside the original Wall which has been standing for over thousand years. You can touch its skin of wall and feel its soul and spirit. Some three or four hours later, you will reach the highest point of this section of wall - San Jie Bei - literally three boundary tablets. Then after 20 minutes’ walking, a small village in the mountains is approaching where you can try some traditional Chinese home-made delicacies. After lunch, you will return to downtown Beijing and say goodbye to our pleasant journey. This section of the Great Wall is specially appreciated by people who want to see the origin wall and avoid touristic sites. The hiking time is 3-4 hours.

The guide Peter was great, very kind, helpful and informative. The old part of the wall is 1600 years old and hides incredible stories. The landscape is majestic, you are surrounded by vastness, sounds of nature and peace. In the end there is a traditionsl chinese lunch in a domestic country house which comes as a hreat surorise with authentic people, their habiits and excellent home produced snd made food which I enjoyed to the full.

The hiking tour of this part of the great wall was amazing! It was incredible to see the wild parts of the wall become in better condition as we hiked. Jason was very knowledgeable and gave us really good information about the history of China and the Wall. It was also very peaceful and we didn't see another hiker on the wall until the final stretch.

Our guide Peter was so kind! And was explaining the background of the Great Wall so clearly! My daughter was scared to go on the wall herself so he gave her a hand! And she felt more comfortable he was so kind and was so positive the whole time! His knowledge of the wall was so amazing!

Attention Ladies and Gentlemen! Everyone wants to see the Great Wall but if you want to see it in the most authentic touristy way you have came to the right place. I am a solo traveler and was a little nervous about this. James met me at my hotel with a smile. Lee the driver opened my door and made me feel instantly comfortable. As we took the drive James was giving me bits and pieces of history. When we got to where we were being let out (the side of the road) I was shocked. From there we started this hike. Straight up the wall! We walked (a few miles I assume) at my own pace ON THE WALL! It was AWESOME. As we walked, James continued to tell me information about my surroundings. We reached a point that felt like I was on top of the world! Fantastic views all around me. Then we hiked down to an authentic Chinese home with a table full of food. Not just food, a table full of deliciousness! The entire day was above and beyond and I would do it again tomorrow in a heartbeat! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This was a part of the Great Wall that is very remote and not visited by many tourists. Its a bit of a challenge to walking but my tour guide James made me feel safe and made the whole day amazing. The scenery was breathtaking even though this was early February. There is a lot of steep climbing but worth the effort. We stopped as much as needed for photos. James was very accommodating and had a great deal of history to share. We walked down from the wall and had an incredible lunch in a farm house. The people and food were a great end to the tour.

Guide James and Vincent Lui (our driver) picked me up from my hotel (not easy in the Hutong!) and we drove, away from smoggy old Beijing, up into the fresh air, farms and mountains. We stopped the car, loaded up with water, a walking pole each and James said, 'We start here,' and began to climb a heap of rocks. After a few metres I realised this steep incline was the actual Great Wall! With minimum fuss James checked I was able and stable and we moved up into the hills, now covered in red-rusty and golden autumn hues. When we looked back we could see the slim spine of broken wall extending along the ridges for miles. James's confidence in my ability gave me the bravery to cover what could be slightly broken-down parts of the wall. I took my time and he was always patient. The mountain views were astounding, made especially glorious by that variety of seasonal colour provided by the fruit trees of the surrounding farms. We arrived at the junction of three provinces and gazed at the restored wall, stretching smooth into the future and looked back at our far more interesting past walk. The guest-house lunch was welcome, fresh and tasty. I was very sorry to have to go back to the city. A wonderful way to see part of the Great Wall of China (without any other tourists) and sense some of the history and difficulties suffered by soldiers and prisoners alike in moving those chunks of rock hundreds of years ago. If you like the outdoors and enjoy a reasonably challenging walk, this is the tour for you!

Seeing the Great Wall has been on my bucket list for 30 years. First & foremost, our guide Dennis was great. Just enough information without constant chatter, but always willing to answer any questions we had. Second & even better, we did not see another person during our entire 3-4 hour hike. This is an older section of the wall, & not "reconstructed", so parts are falling into ruin, but the large intact sections were even more impressive for their age. The hike itself was very steep in parts, but nothing that our almost 50 year old bodies couldn't handle (we are in pretty good shape). My wife & I joked afterwards that we shouldn't have taken this hike the first day, because it made the rest of our stay in Beijing seem so mundane. Easily the best thing we did in China, & I'd wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to see the "real" wall.

I chose this walk because I wanted to get away from the crowds. We didn't see one other person and such a lovely, scenic route. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. I had a lovely day and the lunch at the end was very tasty with plenty of it. The day was seamless from pick up to drop off and would definitely recommend.
