What To Expect

The fairytale book of Lier opens with the rusticated house Het Spui (or Groot Spui), located by itself in a relaxing and picturesque riverside setting on the edge of the city. Built on a historic discharge sluice that controls the water in the city, the well-maintained 16th-century house is the only remainder of the city’s second ramparts, which overlook beautiful green landscapes of the forest on the other bank.

Head to the Old Town’s center and stop by the Former Kluizekerk, resting under the shadow of its beautiful Gothic Tower.
