5.00It has been one week since we had our tour of the Pompeii archaeological site with Lello on March 10, 2025. We still are smiling about the enchanting experience Lello provided the 2 of us and are still absorbing and contemplating all the information he discussed. First, about Lello, no one could ask for a more personable, knowledgeable, humorous, and pleasant guide. Such a nice man! He encourages and answers questions in detail with his vast knowledge of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Though the tour was only at Pompeii, he remembered seeing us the day before at Herculaneum where we visited without a guide. When I mentioned that we had been at Herculaneum the day before, Lello exclaimed, "That's where I remember seeing you. I knew you looked familiar!" 😊 During the tour, Lello seem to know everyone, especially the other tour guides and the park officials who were attendants at the various popular locations. It was entertaining just to watch him very briefly tease or be teased by the other guides and anyone else he saw whom he knew. At one point, I had to ask him if there was anyone there whom he did not know?! He is obviously a very popular individual and he is the type of person that if we lived near Pompeii, we would want to have him as a personal friend. Second, the tour was exactly as advertised. Lello met us on time (actually he was waiting for us), he purchased the tickets (ignored some teasing from his fellow guides that we do not know what was about!), and began the tour by asking us questions. That is an important part of his technique. By asking us questions throughout the tour, Lello personalized the tour and made us feel as if we actually were part of Pompeii and were there in 79 A.D. I suspect he carefully selected the sites he wanted to explain to us based upon not only our interests but also the significance of those particular sites to the citizens of Pompeii and also to the archaeologists who have made the fascinating discoveries, of whom he is one. The 2 1/2 hour tour seemed to last only minutes. All the information Lello provided made the city of Pompeii and its citizens come alive for us! The job of an archaeologist is not only to uncover the past, but to explain the significance of the findings in a modern day context, and Lello does that immensely well! Third, we were hoping to have enough time in our schedule for the rest of our trip to book Lello again to give us a tour of the parts of the archaeological park that were not part of the first tour, but we simply did not have enough time to do that. If you're lucky enough to have a tour with Lello, you will have a wonderful experience the memory of which probably will last a lifetime!

He provided just the right amount of information, making it fascinating but not overwhelming. 5.00Lello is just the best and our private tour of Pompeii will be a family memory forever. Our five year old son loved that Lello called him “little king” and he had fun learning several important facts about this ancient city. The adults were floored by all of the history and knowledge that Lello possesses and delivered to us during the tour. We miss him already!

5.00Fantastic two hour tour. Our guide, Bravo Clélia n Unforgettable.an archeologist (a must do), shared details few are privy too. Also accommodated someone with walking difficulties. Knew all the short cuts to avoid crowds.

5.00Our guide, Leonardo, made this tour exceptional. He is an expert on all things Pompeii, but what one really feels when touring with him is his passion. I loved how he would stand next to something and say "Imagine it..." and then go on to explain what it must have been like in 79AD. And then once we were captivated and seeing it in our minds eye, he would conclude with "fantastico" . It was one of the best tours I have ever taken.

5.00Lello was one of the single best tour guides we have ever encountered. His knowledge of the material is obviously deep, but more important, he brings the history to life. Our 12 and 11 year olds were totally engaged, and so were we. We learned a tremendous amount and enjoyed it thoroughly. I would not go to Pompeii without Lello!
