This private tour is perfect for those who want to fully experience the charm of Hakone in just half a day.
The greatest strength of this tour is its flexibility. Taking into account the season, weather, and your personal preferences, our experienced guide will propose a customized itinerary during a briefing at your pick-up point. For example, if you’d like to enjoy Hakone’s stunning views from various angles, you can choose a plan that includes Lake Ashi, the Hakone Ropeway, and Owakudani. If you’re interested in visiting power spots, a plan with Hakone Shrine is recommended. For those who enjoy drinks, we can also arrange a plan visiting Hakone’s wineries or craft breweries.
Due to time constraints, we will visit selected recommended spots, and depending on your pick-up location, it may not be possible to cover all the places you wish to see. Typically, we visit 3–4 locations.

Hakone Shrine
Hakone Shrine: Hakone Shrine, situated on the shores of Lake Ashi, is a historically significant shrine known for its sacred atmosphere. The beautiful shrine buildings, harmoniously integrated with the surrounding nature, and the iconic vermillion torii gate seemingly floating on the lake's surface, captivate visitors. The reflection of the torii gate and Mount Fuji in the lake creates a breathtaking view. It is also a popular power spot, attracting many worshippers. From the shrine grounds, you can enjoy stunning views of Lake Ashi and, on a clear day, Mount Fuji. Admission fee: Free
Owakudani
Owakudani: Owakudani, accessible via the Hakone Ropeway, is an active volcanic valley still emitting steam. The strong smell of sulfur and the unique landscape offer a truly otherworldly experience. The black eggs, a local specialty, are said to add seven years to your life if you eat one. Geothermal hot springs also abound, providing a unique opportunity to experience the area's volcanic activity. The surrounding area offers numerous onsen (hot springs), foot baths, and souvenir shops. Admission fee: Ropeway fee separate

Pay attention to the crowd. Don't forget breaks. I don't know, I can't think of anything. Still no idea.

Our first time in Hakone and looking at attractions they are spread out in the area so we booked this private tour. I'm so glad we did. Our guide Kumi arrived in a very comfortable mini van at our hotel on time and asked us what sort of things we were interested in. We heard that Hakone is a beautiful area so we wanted to experience that. We are also interested in Japanese history and culture. She then recommended where to go and we told her to use her judgement. We must say that she took us to the right places. We went up the Ropeway for bird's eye view of Hakone, the sulphur vents on the mountain top, and supposed views of Mt. Fuji (unfortunately invisible behind clouds but we expected this). We saw beautiful scenic mountain and lake areas, and visited the historical Kyoto-Tokyo gate. We visited a Hakone regional lapidary artist and his workshop. We went to beautiful historically and religiously significant shrines and she taught us how to pay respects to the shrine. Lastly she took us to this old tea house that has been with the same family for many generations. We enjoyed some amasake, jiso juice, mochi and some chewy konjac cakes in a very traditional informal Japanese setting. The drinks and snacks were different but delicious. Kumi is very friendly, easy going and communicates well in English, explaining things as we went about. The day was so enjoyable that it felt like we were hanging out with a friend. All in all a well spent day getting to know Hakone. I highly recommend this tour.

This was a great 5 hr tour of Hakone. We did a day trip and had limited time. This was the perfect tour for us. We were able to see everything on the list. Sun was our tour guide and he went above & beyond showing us every place, giving us pointers, telling the history, and even took amazing photos of us. Definitely, a tour to remember and well worth every penny.

Naoki was by far the best tour guide we had during our time in Japan. He was amazingly flexible and willing to customize the tour around what my husband and I were most interested in doing on the tour. He also wove in other smaller experiences - like walking a section of the Old Tokaido road - that have become some of our best memories. Beyond that, he was a fascinating person who was a pleasure to spend several hours with. I can't say enough good things about this company, and this guide in particular.
