This private tour is perfect for those who want to fully experience the charm of Hakone in just half a day.
The greatest strength of this tour is its flexibility. Taking into account the season, weather, and your personal preferences, our experienced guide will propose a customized itinerary during a briefing at your pick-up point. For example, if you’d like to enjoy Hakone’s stunning views from various angles, you can choose a plan that includes Lake Ashi, the Hakone Ropeway, and Owakudani. If you’re interested in visiting power spots, a plan with Hakone Shrine is recommended. For those who enjoy drinks, we can also arrange a plan visiting Hakone’s wineries or craft breweries.
Due to time constraints, we will visit selected recommended spots, and depending on your pick-up location, it may not be possible to cover all the places you wish to see. Typically, we visit 3–4 locations.
Our guide will design and create the perfect tour tailored just for you!

Hakone Shrine: Hakone Shrine, situated on the shores of Lake Ashi, is a historically significant shrine known for its sacred atmosphere. The beautiful shrine buildings, harmoniously integrated with the surrounding nature, and the iconic vermillion torii gate seemingly floating on the lake's surface, captivate visitors. The reflection of the torii gate and Mount Fuji in the lake creates a breathtaking view. It is also a popular power spot, attracting many worshippers. From the shrine grounds, you can enjoy stunning views of Lake Ashi and, on a clear day, Mount Fuji. Admission fee: Free
Owakudani: Owakudani, accessible via the Hakone Ropeway, is an active volcanic valley still emitting steam. The strong smell of sulfur and the unique landscape offer a truly otherworldly experience. The black eggs, a local specialty, are said to add seven years to your life if you eat one. Geothermal hot springs also abound, providing a unique opportunity to experience the area's volcanic activity. The surrounding area offers numerous onsen (hot springs), foot baths, and souvenir shops. Admission fee: Ropeway fee separate

We had limited time so we picked a half day tour. Our Guide responded to us many times before the actual meeting date. He was waiting for us at the train station midday. In a half day to saw so much. From waterfalls to the old road up to the volcano. Volcano was an excellent surprise. Steam pouring from the volcano. Enjoyed the black eggs. Our guide was amazing. Stopped at a beautiful site to watch Mt Fuji come out. Can’t say enough, good things about his English and his friendly manner.

Great, laid back experience! Kumi did a nice job providing historical context during our tour and went at a comfortable pace. We stopped 4 times, which felt appropriate for a half day tour. We also appreciated the times when she left us to walk or ride the ropeway alone before meeting up with us again. It was not terribly crowded when and where we went, but it’s also somewhat off-season in September.

The tour can be made very flexible and was tailored to our specific interests. The tour guide Kumi was brilliant, very friendly and helpful. She took us to several off the track hidden temples. A practical tip, we had plenty of luggage coming from Tokyo and having a good-sized car where we could leave everything allowed us to relax.
