Meet your friendly English-speaking guide at your hotel lobby and you’ll head to the Chengdu Panda Breeding Center, a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. Spend your morning with the cutest, yet impressive, creatures in China! 3 hours inside the Panda Center, tour through the baby and adult panda areas. On a guided tour, visit different sections of the center to get a full overview of a panda’s development. Visit the baby garden, where you can see giant panda cubs born in summer, which weigh only about 3.5 ounces (100 grams) at birth and by the third month are able to walk on their own. Then stop at the sub-adult garden, where the adolescent pandas hang out, and see the adult garden, which houses the giant pandas in all their full-grown glory. Take pictures of this endangered species eating bamboo, sleeping or frolicking about. Finally, visit the red panda section to see these small adorable animals and try to spot the sleeping red pandas stretched out on branches in the red panda garden.

I am sorry for the guy who accompanied us on the visit because he was very polite and helpful, with good English and knowledge of the park. But if we had gone with a taxi (20/30€ round trip) and paid the entrance to the park (8 euros pp) we would have saved 60 euros per person and believe me I do not like it, especially because it was a gift for my partner and I thought it was a more particular experience given the difference in price. Basically apart from the withdrawal, we went around the mass of people, arming into the crowd to see the pandas. The only difference? That if we went alone we would have no time limit and of course 120 euros saved. I don't know if it matters but it's the first time I've booked with viator and it's the first time something like this has happened to me. One last thing, the park experience is beautiful, but certainly not thanks to this tour.

The tour already started in our hotel where the guide Perry and taxi driver picked us up. We did the tour early in the morning on Saturday. After all, then the pandas are still the most active. The tour consisted of the visit to the southern part of the park. This part is a bit compact and the pandas are clearly visible. The park is very nicely landscaped and well maintained. We were lucky because in the enclosure with young pandas were very active and were frolicking with each other. As in any park it is often crowded but Perry provided an efficient route along the different species of pandas. One successful day.

The Panda centre is definitely worth going to see but not with Viator. Save your money. For those 60 or over you get free entry but Viator charge everyone the same price £45-£90 .Taxis or public transport is cheap. Viator charged me £90 for this trip and would cost less than £10 return fare in a taxi and £4.50 entry for those inder 60 , over 60 free entry. Beware!!! In addition the tour guide left me stranded /lost and one of my group had to come find me as he did not check that he had all his guests before leaving the Panda house. A rather frightening experience.

In the afternoon on hot days you will see very few pandas. We saw 3 lots and some red pandas but no babies as too hot. This should be made clear If you are over 60 you can get in the panda centre for free.

Had such a fun time at the Panda Centre, and our guide Hexi was great. She knew everything about pandas and got us around the park so easily. Loved seeing the goofy adults and the cubs sleeping in trees. Super memorable experience overall, would definitely recommend if you’re in the area. Handy to include hotel drop on and drop off

We had a great tour with Perry. He's friendly and knew his way around the Panda Research Base. This made our visit more efficient and we were able to see many active pandas in the morning.
