What To Expect
Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi)
Meet your friendly English-speaking guide at your hotel lobby and you’ll head to the Chengdu Panda Breeding Center, a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. Spend your morning with the cutest, yet impressive, creatures in China! 3 hours inside the Panda Center, tour through the baby and adult panda areas. On a guided tour, visit different sections of the center to get a full overview of a panda’s development. Visit the baby garden, where you can see giant panda cubs born in summer, which weigh only about 3.5 ounces (100 grams) at birth and by the third month are able to walk on their own. Then stop at the sub-adult garden, where the adolescent pandas hang out, and see the adult garden, which houses the giant pandas in all their full-grown glory. Take pictures of this endangered species eating bamboo, sleeping or frolicking about. Finally, visit the red panda section to see these small adorable animals and try to spot the sleeping red pandas stretched out on branches in the red panda garden.

5.00Expensive, but worth the cost to help avoid the crowds. We started by walking to the very top of the park with very few tourists and then taking a route back down the mountain which made for a very enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend going in the morning if possible to see the pandas when they are most active!

5.00Jason was a great guide and was very outgoing. He showed us all the best spots to see the pandas. We even got to saw the baby pandas out and about. We also had difficulty getting to our hotel to our agreed pick up point but he was very understanding and picked us up at the area we got lost in when we dropped him a pin! I would recommend this tour and ask for Jason!!
