The main attraction of the tour is Cold War Museum near Plateliai. Cold War Museum is located in the former Soviet Union`s complex of ballistic missile silo launch. Since 1963 up to 1978, there had been deployed four medium- range ballistic missiles SS-4, armed with 2-megaton power thermonuclear warheads. These missiles, together with the nearby terrestrial platforms of analogue missile launching, had created a common Soviet nuclear armament group in Lithuania, which was able to destroy all the Europe.

Plateliai
Plateliai, a town located on the western shore of Plateliai Lake in the Samogitian National Park, is deservedly known as one of the most beautiful towns in the region. The interesting and charming Plateliai has quite a number of tourist attractions, including a nice central town square, a neat wooden Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, and the Plateliai Manor Homestead with a well-groomed park.
The lake Plateliai is one of the main attractions in the park. It is also the clearest, cleanest and the deepest lake with seven islands, each having its own legend. There is a viewing platform quite close. This viewing platform overlooks Lake Plateliai panoramic view together with Pliksalės, Pilies, Veršių islands, Šventorkalnis peninsula and Plokštinė forests.

I had been communicating with Klaipeda Tours via email since June. I was very interested in visiting the Cold War Museum. Interested in a private day tour for my wife and I. Communication start to finish with Klaipeda Tours, and Vita, was wonderful. We were able to arrange the tour, and I found the cost for the tour to be very reasonable. Plus, I really wanted to see this, and this was our last big tour of our 3 week tour of the Baltic States. We were picked up by our guide, and driver, Mindaugas. He was an awesome guide. And an excellent driver. He asked us right away if there was anything else special we wanted to see. We had no clue, so we asked him to show us what might interest us. And he was spot on. He took us to several churches, historical buildings, and scenic viewpoints. It was all very impressive. He was so nice to visit with during our tour. And the Cold War museum was awesome. He bought the tickets for us, then to my surprise, he ended up being our own personal tour guide for the entire visit. It worked out great, and he made our day very special. He never rushed us. This tour was well worth the time, effort, and cost. Thanks.

Amazing day, hard to put into words.. We learnt so much from today that we will discuss for months or more to come. Was eye opening, knowledgeable and interesting, but also offered a thoughtful explanation of history. The tour was so much more than we expected and one of the very best private tours we’ve been on. A very qualified guide but also offers a personal perspective on history. Stunning sights and a tailored, fun and interesting day. Thanks so much

Both the guide and the driver were very well informed and willing to talk about almost anything. We took different routes to and from the nuclear missile plant so were able to see much more of the country while our guide told us about what we were seeing. The plant itself was very well done and very thought provoking. It surprised me that it was built after the 2nd world war
