What To Expect
Godafoss
Goðafoss, the “Waterfall of the Gods,” is one of the most breathtaking waterfalls in Iceland. Its wide, horseshoe shape and powerful flow make it a true highlight of the North. According to legend, this is where the lawspeaker Þorgeir threw pagan idols into the waterfall after Iceland adopted Christianity over 1,000 years ago. The water comes from Vatnajökull - the largest glacier in Iceland - and depending on the light, the waterfall changes from deep blue to milky glacial colors. On sunny days, you can often spot a beautiful rainbow above the falls. It’s a place that feels powerful, yet peaceful at the same time - perfect for unforgettable photos and a moment to just take it all in.

A unique place on a global scale - pseudocraters like these can be found only in a few places in the world: here in North Iceland, in Hawaii, and even on Mars. They were formed when hot lava flowed into the lake, trapping water underneath. As the water rapidly turned into steam, pressure built up until it exploded through the surface, creating these crater-like formations. Unlike real craters, they were not formed by an eruption from below, but by powerful steam explosions. Today, it’s a peaceful area with beautiful views over Lake Mývatn - perfect for a short walk and photos.

5.00We had a absolute unforgettable experience on our private tour to Lake Myvatn and Dettifoss waterfall from start finish,everything was perfectly organised.Our guide was not only knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about Iceland’s nature & history which made the journey even more engaging. The landscapes were simply breathtaking. Lake Myvatn felt almost otherworldly,with it’s volcanic formations and peaceful atmosphere,while Dettifoss was raw,powerful and awe-inspiring beyond words.Having a private tour,made all the difference,we could explore at our own pace,stop for photos whenever we wanted & truly take in the beauty without feeling rushed. What dtood out the most was the attention to detail & the warmth,friendly approach of Joanna.We felt well taken care of through out the entire trip. 5.00What a wonderful trip!!! Joanna is an incredible travel guide. This is not my first time in northern Iceland, but this experience was truly extraordinary. Many interesting facts and stories, including about Icelandic fauna and flora. Besides Mývatn and Dettifoss, there was also enough time to visit other amazing places. Joanna has an impressive knowledge of Iceland and shows you places that would be difficult to discover on her own. If you are looking for an unforgettable adventure in a small, cozy group, I highly recommend Joanna. The organization of the trip was at a very professional level.

5.00We were very fortunate to spend two weeks in beautiful Iceland in June 2025. Since we had never been to the island before we booked many tours in order to make the most of our experience. Our favorite tour and tour guide by far was Joanna. We spent the day with Joanna and we had so much fun. She was so knowledgeable so personable and just a wonderful travel guide. Would highly recommend any tour that Joanna is a part of. We plan to come back to Iceland again and will definitely be booking Joanna to take us on another tour.
